Land SJU 1330 and leave at 1425. Possible?

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I posted, and after a year or two off I'm starting to mileage run again (having no status really sucks).

I was wondering if the attached itinerary is doable? I arrive SJU from ORD at 1330 and leave at 1425.

I've never been to SJU so I was wondering if I have to go through security again or can I "connect" inside security?

Thanks.

p.s. Also, is there a way to find out if UA1996 uses the same exact airplane as UA841?

Use United's flight status/flightaware and check where the 841 plane is coming from. Today, the inbound for 841 is 1996.

Thanks GoSh4rks!

I hope the inbound for 841 is 1996 when I go.

Now if I could just connect without having to re-clear security (customs/immigration)...

It would be really cool if I would immediately be at the departure gate for 841 once I walk off of 1996. I wonder if the flight attendants will be the same. "Hi, it's me again" LOL.

Unless something has changed, you exit the plane into concourse past security. Kind of sparse, but you can grab something to eat before boarding return flight.

SJU is domestic. You won't need to go through customs or immigration on a flight from ORD.

One award plus one purchased ticket

My wife and I wish to travel from PDX to MAN next April. I have enough miles for a business award ticket, and will purchase another ticket, and understand I can't buy an award and purchase a ticket at the same time. My thought was to get the award ticket and then purchase a ticket on the same itinerary. Is that the best way to do this and are there any problems I should be aware off?

Use two browsers and do the work in parallel. The risk is that something happens with the algorithms when you book the revenue or the award flight and increases the fare or reduces the business availability.

In your specific case, more likely that the award gets pulled if you book a business fare ticket, so I'd ticket the award first. Or use some tricks to hold the award or the cash ticket while you book the other.

Either way, you have 24 hours to cancel if something goes amiss.

If by "same itinerary" you mean purchase the same flights for the same days, one with cash, one with miles, that's not a problem. But the two tickets (yours and your wife's) cannot be put on the same PNR (which is commonly described as an "itinerary").

Does anyone know what "location" United WiFi resolves to while in-air?

E25K: Coach standard North America
S80K: Business saver North America to Middle East

There used to be a thread where someone tried to gather all the mappings, but they do change and the thread is likely way out of date.
Oh, interesting. It started out as a 2x 57,500 miles waitlisted business saver ticket but was upgraded to use a first saver award on one of the legs. Thank you for the explanations! The B might be "1k waitlisted" -- at least the wait list was supposed to have a "WBI" code (I might be misremembering that).

Would be nice if United would just publish these things. :-)

I think it depends on the satellite internet provider, but if I remember right I've usually seen ~Dallas or New York on United.

Ah, this explains the security alert I got on an account last week about a login from an unfamiliar location, which was Dallas. (Flew SFO—CDG.)

no mobile boarding passes with codeshare?

Flying SFO—MUC—AMS tomorrow. SFO—MUC is United metal, and MUC—AMS is Lufthansa. On checkin, no mobile boarding pass available for either segment. This happened to me two weeks ago as well, with SFO—CDG on United metal and CDG—OSL on SAS.

This pattern of United metal then intra-Europe codeshare is common for me (particularly on Lufthansa), and I feel like in the past I've gotten mobile boarding passes... Am I misremembering, or has something changed? It's annoying when I'm carrying on only; I'm so accustomed to going straight to security, I almost forgot to get the BPs last time.

Hmm, perhaps the "something" is that the LH is LH flight number, though 016 United stock. Can't remember if the SAS flight was the same.

Hi all,

I booked a revenue Economy regular ticket as a platinum member, however, am not able to see my name on the upgrade list. I called in and was transferred to web support in which they were not of any help either, saying that I would see my name on the list when I checked in.

However, as a 1k last year, and platinum this year, I have usually been able to see my name without checkin 72 hours before.

Have things changed or is this an error at all?

Thanks!

On the return I’ve been able to use the Lufthansa app for mobile boarding pass by entering the LH PNR. But no luck using the UA app for the initial outbound boarding pass.
