Call 1K line three times to book an AA flight after misconnection

My wife is traveling today. Her first flight (RIC-ORD) was delayed by 2.5 hrs and will misconnect at ORD and stay there overnight at UA expense. I called three 1K agents in order to get a flight on AA for her to reach the destination a few hours earlier tomorrow. Agent 1: cannot book on AA before ORD-destination flight is cancelled; Agent 2: AA does not have seats on two flights that depart earlier than UA own flight; Agent 3: booked exactly the AA flight that I wanted and kept me on phone until the AA ticket was issued. All these are 1K agents, one of them told me white lies.
just a footnote: agent 1 might get the AA flight for me after I hang up the phone, but it disappeared on App for some unknown reason.

Edit: For her return flight, the first segment is delayed by three hours, which will create misconnection at ORD. A 1K agent rebooked her to an American flight without asking me any question. So, she won't be stuck in ORD again by getting the last seat on an AA flight. By the way, Mr. Kirby, how can you compete with your former employer? AA's flight is full and on time, while UA's flight is half empty and delayed often.

UA652, a DEN-IAD B788 Service, turned around over Eastern Kansas this evening and returned to DEN. Possibly for an engine issue, though I can’t get it EF right now to verify what FLIFO is showing.

United says "Status: Delayed due to aircraft maintenance (Estimated Departure 3 Hours 50 Minutes Late)".

Strange they turned and flew 1 hour back to DEN rather than either (a) continuing 2 hours to EWR or (b) diverting to Kansas City or Omaha, which were much closer. Maybe the weather on the east coast wasn't looking compatible with their MX problems.

I suppose it depends on how critical they deemed the mx issue. If something urgent, one would imagine an emergency landing at MCI or another airport would be prudent. Otherwise heading back to DEN where they have a superbay w/ 787 mechanics seems like a smart idea. Unfortunate they couldn't go to ORD (do they have 787 mechanics there?), as it's only 403 miles from KC, rather than 532 to DEN.

What likely happened is agent #1 put the AA flight in your record and was ready to ticket it before telling you she wouldn't/couldn't without the cancellation or guaranteed misconnect first. So after you hung up she went back into the record and deleted the flight segment.

Agent #2 was either looking at the wrong flights or was looking for the wrong fare bucket. She may have been trying to match your "K" fare to an AA "K" fare, etc. Just a guess.

It's interesting that NO HOTELS is noted. They expected (or did) get the flight back out of DEN that day so no hotels were needed? Or they wren't going to book people in hotels even if the flight cancelled?

Would appreciate insights into why UA canceled 2 of their ORD-LAN flights due to weather (snow) in LAN while comparable flights on DL and AA to LAN completed in the same time frame (all times adjusted to EST). Are AA's RJ145 and/or DL's CR200 somehow more capable of flying in snow than UA's RJ145? Is pilot training different? Differences in risk adversity among the regional carriers?

DL 3542 DTW-LAN by CR200, Sched Dep. 3:50pm, Status: Arrived 37 min late
DL 3793 MSP-LAN by CR200, Sched Dep. 4:00pm. Status: Arrived 7 min early
UA 4730 ORD-LAN by RJ145, Sched Dep. 4:45pm. Status: Canceled due to weather in LAN
AA 3525 ORD-LAN by RJ145, Sched Dep. 7:54pm, Status: In flight, expected 1 hr 55 min late
UA 4709 ORD-LAN by RJ145, Sched Dep. 8:55pm. Status: Canceled due to weather in LAN
DL 3319 MSP-LAN by CR200, Sched Dep. 9:25pm. Status: In flight, expected on time

Similar happened last month; my UA flight from LAN to ORD was delayed 3 hours due to fog in LAN, while AA and DL continued to operate in LAN with relatively short (<1 hour) delays.
