UA Upsell Offers to Business/First at Purchase and Day of Departure (TOD)

2017 is here. This thread Lists all United upsell offers to business/first class at purchase or day of departure (after check in). In 2016, there were two separate threads.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/1735887-2016-upsell-offers-business-first-ufc-pcu-questions-discussion-paid-upgrades.html

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/1737555-post-your-tod-buy-up-experiences-here-2016-edition.html

a related thread discussing the upsell pricing http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/1742530-comprehensive-look-domestic-first-class-monetization-fcm-united.html

For TOD, it may be helpful to list your status because the TOD offer prices are probably higher for elites. Please also provide the original booking classes.

MCO-IAD

Jan. 2, MCO-IAD, from G to F, offers of $179 for 1Ks. There were 11/20 seats available at T-24. Got the CPUs about 20 min later (7 others on standby list got upgraded, too). United did not clear any CPUs from T-96 to T-24.
Happy New Year to all and a good start for CPUs.

Baggage policy

Hi,
I have a question regrading the baggage policy. Economy class from LAX via SFO to Tel Aviv baggage allowance is 1pc but I need a second baggage which cost 100usd. At online check in there is an option to upgrade the lax to sfo segment to "first" (which includes 2pc baggage allowance) at 70usd, If I will pay the 70usd fee, will I be able to send the second baggage free all the way (LAX TO TLV)? Or I will need also to pay the 100usd second baggage fee?

Thanks!

Yes, and this potential unintended consequence of cheap checkin upgrades has been discovered by others.

Enjoy the upgrade, on that segment is a nicer seat and a few free drinks AND for you no additional bag fee), better snacks but no meal

If I can get in on the data collection effort, I would also ask (if you are in a position to look it up):

What was the premium cabin inventory of the flight when the offer was made?
If accepted, what class did it book into?

If the minimum buy-up charge was $200 (the change fee), I don't think many of us would have issues with the system? Amounts less than $200 while CPUs are just sitting there pending feels like an insult to me.

Jan 3rd, TPA-ORD, "as low as $89..." on reservations page. Clicked through and it was down to "waitlist only". About 28 hours until the flight and there are still 7 of 20 seats showing as orange on the Seat Map on the Flight Status screen.

I might have bit for $89...

Dec 24th 2016, LAX-SYD 798 W-bucket UA Plat $1600 declined.

BF had ~9 seats available on check-in. Looking at the standby list and BF UG list I would estimate that most if not all of those got filled by staff (or those that did not decline)

Not to bad as full fare is ~6K..

Have a GPU applied for EWR-LAX-LAS tomorrow (1/4)

EWR-LAX cleared this morning (yessssss!!)
1 seat remaining on LAX-LAS at checkin (I'm on an E fare), and was offered the upgrade for $639. Think I'll pass.

That is equivalent to $2.71 per mile.
