UA has a waiver for BCN, LIS + MAD. Why are these cities are affected by this? I'm flying to BCN tomorrow and now crossing my fingers.
I swear, every time I go to Europe I get hit with something like this. From now on I'm sticking to Asia.

France covers a huge amount of airspace accessing Iberia. Same thing happened a few years ago, my MAD-BRU flight was very prolonged...

Last year i was on a ZRH-IAD flight that was delayed due to a french controller work action. We departed an hour late and rerouted around french airspace.

UA 82 EWR-DEL 2017-03-09 delayed 12+ hours (UA 83 return delayed 12+ hours)
Has been sitting at the gate since departure time; at least 10 hours delayed (and return from DEL now delayed 12+ hours, departing at 12:30PM instead of 12:30AM- guessing due to crew rest rules).
Anyone know what's wrong? That seems like a pretty broken 777.

check engine light came on, couldn't use black tape on gauges to make pesky warning disappear (jk)
crew timed out ( not much wiggle room on ulh flights )

Based on them continuing to push the flight 30 mins every 30 mins or so, I'm guessing that light isn't turning off.

crew rest isn't he delay for the return. Likely because of other logistics like getting a new takeoff/landing slot. The crew on scheduled Mar 9 ex-EWR lands in DEL scheduled evening of Mar. 10 - then works flight next day, departing March 11. Crew rest would be l why that March 11 flight ex-DEL is delayed - until 3:00 am Mar 12. It's listed as "operational difficulties", still more broadly accurate, but almost certainly because of crew. A delay like that to India almost always delays the return routing 2 days in a row.
Ive been affected by this same thing ex-BOM. Crew rest delay because flight ex-EWR was delayed two days prior, and that's he crew that comes back for us. Our delay was something like 12 hours, and announced something like 30+ hours prior to scheduled departure. In my case, I asked UA to re-route me, and they did via ZRH, so got to pick up some good chocolate enroute to boot.

UA 871 sfo-tpe 9 mar 4 hours 744
After one hour without boarding, plane swap announced with usual rolling delays. It takes at least 2 hours to unload and reload, re-cater, refuel...why post delays of 1 hour, then 90 mins, then 2 hours, 2.5, 2.75, 3.0, et al? Swapped ship and whole new crew, only at SFO during these waning 744 days. And since it's pet peeve time, why announce a (temporary) new departure time but never a revised boarding time?

UA 83 DEL-EWR 10 March (delayed)
As referenced in the posts above, UA 83 is suffering a knock on delay of 12.5 hours due to the late inbound UA 82. Fortunately, I was tracking UA 82 and saw this mess coming hours ahead of time. UA offered to re-book me via FRA or MUC on LH. In the end, I extended my hotel (will fight UA for reimbursement) and stuck with UA 83.
The upside is that business class had 25 empty seats as half the load bailed for other options. My upgrade easily cleared and I am now ensconced in my Business Class seat somewhere over Russia.
FWIW, the DEL station manager sent an e-mail to passengers on UA 83 stating the cause of the delay as "crew rest." I assume this was referencing the inbound crew as the UA83 should have had their full, legal rest period. UA 83 crew have been great so far!
Now waiting for the customer care offer from UA. What is typically offered for a delay of this length?
