Sometimes you can't make this stuff up. Apparently a fuel spill on the wing.
1/22 UA 179 EWR-HKG (N77012) estimated departure at 1812, 2 hours 42 minute late and estimated arrival at 2308, 2 hours 38 minutes late due to aircraft maintenance.
Have been watching this delay roll from 1600 to 1700 to 1713 to 1746 to now 1812.
Apparently this plane is now a no go so they are waiting for UA 78 coming in from NRT (N78004).

Have a friend on this flight. On taxiway and Pilot announces a crash (assuming computer), back to the gate.

UA 179 EWR-HKG after tying to recrew FA and Pilots they are giving up for tonight and going tomorrow. Estimated departure at 0830 and arrival at 1302.

1/22 UA179 ended up departing at 0921, estimated arrival in HKG 1425, 18 hours late. 1/24 UA180 HKG-EWR thus showing a 4h30 delay for now.

1/25 UA180 HKG-EWR already showing diverted to SFO before going on to EWR
Sitting in Singapore trying to get home (NY) earlier than Friday on UA and found this nugget.
Must be a crew rest issue with 1/22 UA179 coming in Tuesday afternoon instead of Monday evening(?).
1/25 UA180 HKG-SFO departs ontime 11:15 am, arrives SFO 6:58 AM
1/25 UA180 SFO-EWR departs SFO 7:38 AM arrives EWR 3:18 (1hr33min late compared to UA180 HKG-EWR).
Must be a crew rest issue with 1/22 UA179 coming in Tuesday afternoon instead of Monday evening(?).

1/24 UA34 KIX-SFO departed 2 hours late and diverting to HNL; scheduled to arrive in SFO 4 hours late - any idea what happened?

1/25-1/26 ua30 & ua31 ewr-muc-ewr
The ex-EWR 763 was delayed for a mechanical by 3.5 hours causing the return to be delayed by a similar amount. Rerouted myself off of it as I would misconnect so not sure what happened.
