Yes they are - I think because of how well the capture the "potatoey" flavor of fries without being too greasy or too starchy. And they are consistently consistent in their flavor. Perhaps I should read the back of the package next time I fly...

Choices were mushroom risotto or chicken. Went with the chicken (plus rice with black beans and asparagus), it was the first truly inedible, disgusting meal I can remember on UA. Chicken was hard as a rock and tasted like nothing, had about 2 bites and called it a day.

Cookie was the only good part of the meal
In the last 3 weeks, I've had that meal (the risotto or chicken) 6 times. And yes, it's pretty bad. The chicken is dry, dry, dry. The risotto is mushy and bland.

Really, two misses and I've had the misfortune of it between EWR, DFW, ATL and I believe DEN. Too. Many. Flights.

Cheeseburger (other choice was salad with chicken milanesa). I like this. All they need is to replace the sweet pickles with dill. Sweet pickles on a burger is un-American.

Cookie. Not gooey. Lately I've noticed too many cookies have come out semi-warm and not gooey. Gooey-ness was the whole appeal.

See above (same exact flight, same food except more gooey cookie this time)

I actually though the mushroom risotto was one of the best domestic mains I've ever had. (Then again it was a Sunday and I was rather tipsy from pre-flight liquid brunch ...)

I just flew SFO EWR on the new 777-300.

The meal was outstanding. I wish I knew how to put pics up here. It was great quality, fresh, the short ribs were tender. I was thrilled with the new seat, the new plane, the food, and the service.

UA can do it right when it wants to!

Perhaps UA has hired an Aussie to plan its domestic burger menu? They add beets to sweeten their burgers down here!

And on the cookie front, perhaps Customer Care got tired of paying for dry cleaning bills when these cookies dripped goo onto the pax clothing?

Any thoughts what to expect on HNL-EWR? The flight departs at 1440 but is listed as lunch. Assume will have the new bedding but no other Polaris amenities, right? Thanks!

Really do suggest you actually try what you're calling bad before you call them bad. The fries served with the burger in UA BoB are actually quite good - never seen them before, but they're essentially fry crisps, not rewarmed fries. They pair with the surprisingly solid Y burger very well.

Yes, it is the duck appetizer. Potato salad and duck - not a healthy choice!

Maybe that's the trick then?? Because what I got was a plate o' mush. The rice was really over cooked; it just became a globby starchy mess. Ah well.

In the wow-how-can-I-possibly-be-complaining department ... I actually had a bad French toast soufflé the other day. It was ice cold in the middle. No croissants/biscuits either. Just disappointing; I always love the soufflé.

Even worse, on another leg, I had a UAX crew DFW-EWR that was just awful. He apparently could only speak in one-word sentences. "Drink?" Coffee, black please. "Breakfast?" What choices do we have today? "Cereal." I guess I'll take the cereal then please. "OK."

That was it. He served the trays, cleaned up, then disappeared into the rear galley for the rest of the flight. Not exactly flyer friendly.

LAS to EWR on UA899 on 4/4. "Lunch" on a 2pm departure was choice of salmon over rice or brazed short ribs over rice....Wife is allergic to any thing that swims and I hate fish so we chose the short ribs..big mistake. Should have just picked up wraps at Port of Subs. The meat was overcooked, stringy, fatty and pretty tasteless. The rice and chickpeas were bland and the salad was wilted.....oh well, at least we had some leg room and the Direct TV works....so much for meals being upgraded to edible.
