JNB lounge for UA flyers

Does UA send J/*G pax to the SA lounge or a contract lounge at JNB, and does it have showers?

Thanks, and duh! Didn't realize UA had a handy directory of partner/contract lounges for the international cities it serves.

If you have an AMEX Plat or Capital One Venture X, allow me to recommend the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse. Great a la carte menu and bar, plus showers.

I find the SAA lounge quite depressing, though there are showers.

If you have Priority Pass, there are other options as well...all somewhat depressing. Avoid the Mashonzha lounge, as it smells like an ashtray (it has a smoking room with poor ventilation). The Aspire Lounge is better than the Shongololo Lounge.

Passed through JNB twice flying JNB-EWR in 2021 and both times used Slow Lounge on a J ticket. It was superb although a bit crowded

I was there a few weeks ago, and used the SAA lounge. It was dark and won’t win any design awards, but the food choices were decent. It was pretty packed when I arrived around 4:45 pm, but it cleared out after about an hour. You’ll need to go through another security check at the gate, so don't bring any liquids out of whatever lounge you visit.

+1, though that was the only lounge open at the time.

I have been advised that UA doesn't pay for Slow Lounge along longer. SAA (fine, but less nice) is only option for UA BP.

(Website still shows Slow Lounge: https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/tra...locations.html.)

I was directed to Shongololo in Dec flying JNB-EWR. Horrible food, over crowded, very warm. I would try for anything else you have access to.

Yep, can confirm Slow Lounge access was not granted with a UA BP, at least last November.

I was just there 2 months ago and used the Shongololo Lounge. I would pay/use anything else.

Connecting through JNB now with United. Just as an update still using the SAA lounge for those on business class tickets.

In regards to the earlier question, it has showers.
