How recently did you see this? Last time I was in T6, it looked like it was blocked off for construction. I assumed they were trying to fit another retail spot there.

I just saw the pet area passing through on Sunday (11/27)

Yeah, I just looked - the construction was a video wall that now blocks off the view of most of the former smoking patio. Windows used to run the length.

Function matters more than form for me. Hence my lack of interest in ORD T2 UC.

Back to LAX. No showers? Strike 1. How about self serve Coke machines?

Walked past the new entrance coming home Tuesday night, and didn't even think to check if it might be open (since it wasn't, I'm retroactively glad I didn't). After seeing the photos here, I'm excited to check it out later this month.

Indeed. Even though I am LAX-based and won't need the shower in most instances, this fact alone makes UC substandard to the LAX Admirals Club and Sky Club. The legacy of you-know-who lives on.

They're going into the Polaris lounge.

I think we need to keep banging this drum. Showers in the Polaris Lounge are obviously essential, and look great, but I don't think they should come at the expense of United Club showers, especially at international gateways.

At least at LAX there's the *A lounge in TBIT.

I know. I agree with EWR764, there should be showers in both the new UC and Polaris Lounge.

They are present.

I'm in the lounge this morning, now open to the public. Food spread is much more limited, obviously, than the opening ceremony. Usual cold breakfast items -- no hot items except oatmeal. A lot of UA corporate people here this morning.

At least the sofa is self serve rather than dealing with the bartender. Standard or magic Coke Freestyle machine?

How about Illy offerings?

Oatmeal? I've really appreciated the oatmeal (and it's usually hot).

Yes, I should have said oatmeal is available.

The Coke machine is just like the ones now in ORD.
