*A forum thread LAX - TBIT star alliance lounge access

Copy from wiki of this thread for the airside directions between T7/8 and TBIT: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/1612275-psa-upcoming-lax-facility-changes-26.html

T7/T8 to TBIT via tunnel, about 40 min walk with average speed (copied mostly from a blog; http://upgrd.com/blogs/doublewidesfl...-security.html ):

If you are flying through Los Angeles and are connecting airlines, just follow the signs that are located near the far southern end of each terminal to connect via underground tunnel to the other terminals.

When in TBIT, walk past the KE/one world lounge to the end of concourse - take a right handed u turn, up the escalator and the *A lounge is there.

In terminal 4, access the tunnel via the escalator that reads gate 44A-L
Continue to follow the signs to baggage claim, walk past the waiting room is for the bus to Terminal 6 or the American Eagle remote terminal.

to access the tunnels from Delta terminal in T5, the escalator leading to the tunnels is near the entrance to the Sky club near.

The access point from Terminal 6 is near Alaska Airlines' gates, across from the Alaska Airline Board Room and near the Ruby's diner. The tunnel ends at terminal 6, so you must exit the tunnel and access terminal 7 & 8 by above ground walkways which are near the terminal exit and security screening center.

I've made it in 15 with a roller. Would have been faster, but I slowed down to chat with a guy in the glass walkway.

I always try to leave the *A lounge at least 20-25 minutes prior to the "Boarding TIme" printed on my BP for my "airside" walk.

But roughly half of my ex-LAX (pun intended) flights depart from T8.

IIRC someone measured it as about 1.1 miles, which sounds about right for the variety of walking speeds here

Awesome! Thanks all for weighing in. I packed in my Tom Bihn Aeronaut so I can convert it to backback, breakout my treasure map and try to navigate my way back to T7. Ill report back if I find anything different than what has been covered here.

I will have a chance to visit the lounge before a morning flight. Per lounge guide it openes at 7:00 a.m.
Wondering: what are the food offerings like at breakfast time?

The opening times vary depending on flight schedules. It may well be 7am now. When I was there a few months ago they were opening at 6am. I entered at about 6:30am (after arriving on SYD-LAX) and there was no food available at all. By the time I had a shower they had most of the usual breakfast setup out (multiple hot items including scrambled eggs/sausage/bacon, yogurt/etc, cereal/granola, fruit, pastries, and probably some other things I'm forgetting).

It they are now opening at 7am, then I would not presume they will have the food ready at 7am, as it probably means that their earliest flight leaves an hour later, so they have pushed everything back an hour.
cesco.g and cuthroat like this.

Which only flies 3 days a week. Not sure if they would vary the lounge opening schedule on a day-by-day basis or not.

Today at least the first flight out appears to have been ANA to NRT scheduled at 10:20am

Don't know, but I do recall they started opening earlier several years ago to service the early SQ departure. It seems to have broadened to SOP, which is very nice.

Had no problem accessing the *A lounge with my United Club membership card. Wife and I walked in and had some food and drinks. I am flying on domestic united metal. Since we had a few hours, walked via airside access to TBIT. Had lunch at PF Changs thanks to PP card. Then checked out *A lounge and had a few drinks.

I'm arriving from AKL on 12/24 on AZ.

Connecting to a separate ticket on WN, LAX to SJC.

Would I be able to spend time in the *A lounge as a *G?

Not likely because you need to show departure boarding pass. Sorry.

Assume you mean NZ

But no access since you are not departing LAX on *A. If the NZ segment is in J it might be worth asking politely since the lounge is run by NZ, but I would not expect anything.

Yes J NZ flight from AKL.

But would I have to exit security to reclaim my bags and then try to re-enter security?

I obviously wouldn't have a boarding pass for a TBIT departing flight.

Any USCBP inspection that includes going through the baggage claim hall always dumps you outside security.
