More Executive Changes

It is being reported that SVP - Customers Sandra Pineau has announced her retirement. She was recently promoted to SVP, so one has to think this is part of upcoming re-orgs and reductions in the Officer level. I liked Sandra, will be interesting to see if she is replaced.

Also being rumored that Jeff Wall, VP Labor Relations is leaving.

This morning came news of another retirement. CTO Ferdy Khater. Rather odd timing given the outage a few days ago.

Perhaps not so odd given the outage (and reported issues with the new award and back-end IT system)...

Though admittedly I have no basis for any speculation linking the two

I wonder what the deal is here - legitimate retirements or "move-ons", or a move by Oscar to consolidate his strategy with new loyalists?

Perhaps it was a matter of the straw that broke the camels back. I cannot understand how a company with an annual revenue of $38B has such clunky IT.

Because they will be doing what every other company is doing and drving down costs until stuff breaks.

A further announcement today outlines what seems to be major changes. Airport Ops, Inflight, Reservations, Customer Experience and catering are to have one officer. Not sure if that means one EVP, one SVP or what remains to be seen.

Seems like the long-anticipated non-C level management shakeup is underway.

Tomorrow's (18 Oct 2016 9:30AM CT) conference call should be interesting.

Agreed. And unfortunately it's not going to stop there. More layoffs expected through all levels.

If you think backend IT is bad on UA, take a look at WN. That is truly lipstick on a pig. They use different booking engines for domestic and international! :/

But their IT infrastructure will be upgraded in the first half of 2017.
Does UA have a similar outlook?

Based on yesterday's announcement, one has to wonder if he and Sam Risoli are on their way out.
