The sCO 772s may make it. All Australia routes except for IAH-SYD are shorter than EWR-HKG, which used to be a sCO 772 route.

I was looking at some options to SYD and am seeing the 77W on SFO-SYD in late February.

UA 880 today swapped this morning to a 772 with polaris/pp. Went from a bulkhead row 16 with the family and was able to snag row 20 in PP since it is counted as Econ + (PP is not sold IAH-LHR). Looking forward to trying out PP

Looking a bit closer UA 863 SFO-SYD starts on the 77W on Tuesday December 3rd, and UA 870 SYD-SFO on Thursday December 5th.
SYD/LAX is still flying a 787-9.
