free change for delayed flight (though not really delayed)
 

When going to the kiosk this morning I noticed my flight this evening was delayed. At least that's what the computer said. So it gave me an option of free changes (up to 2 days later).
I had to go to the counter to let them know to change my checked bag as well. And the lady said it wasn't delayed.

Currently on UA's website it says it is delayed 28 minutes.

Isn't it funny how these things work? I do prefer an earlier flight though.

If there is an earlier flight, you can always go to the gate and standby for that one. Bear in mind, your bags may end up delayed.

Oh yeah. When I went to the kiosk it said delayed for over an hour.

Delays can (and do) change at any time.

I check a flight as I arrived at the airport a few days ago and it said 20 minutes delayed. By the time I cleared security it was back on-time. In the end we left 10 minutes late.

Sounds like you are from the East Coast. There is an active travel waiver in effect. Hence, the 2-day free change.

Some GAs simply said whatever they think.

This is the most accurate and official flight status, although the flights can be delayed further.
