Upgraded, but wheelchair traveler separated from companion in process
 
Wife and I are flying PIT-SFO tomorrow morning. She's in a wheelchair, and requires a companion (me :) ) for boarding and assistance during the flight.

Our upgrades cleared, but we got separated in the process. I tried calling the disabilities desk but they can't help us. Is there a Silver desk I can try? (I'm one of the lucky newly-minted Silvers thanks to that stupid promo from a few months back) I'm about to try calling the main number but figured I'd check here for other strategies.

Otherwise we'll just try our luck at the airport. We CAN sit separately, but it's very much not ideal.

If you're in F, the gate agent will ask another passenger to move. And if she's noted as "needing assistance" they'll essentially mandate the other passenger to move. I would not worry about it. I always see willing swaps in F even without your special considerations.

Thanks! I didn't expect a problem, because as you said, people in F are perfectly happy to help each other out, but I always feel a bit reluctant asking.

5F and 5B are open if you move to them versus 4B or 4F. Though highly likely that 5D/4D would move to 5B/4B if you asked (as clearly not sitting with someone). As noted, I'd bet the gate agent would call that person up prior to boarding to ask for the switch.

The folks in 2F and 3A will already be attempting a switch in their seats.

But with 18/20 booked, and nobody on the upgrade list, you won't have an issue.
