Business class Amenity Kit Changes

This may been old news ...I have been off Trans flights for a week with UA, yesterday coming back from NRT we were presented with a new menu format which looked much more clean and professional, same old never changing menu but definitely a better look.
The amentity kit was presented in a very smart hexaganol tin with cowshed socks and a normal travel size toothpaste.Rather than a plastic wrap the tin was nicely wrapped with a UA branded paper. It looks much better ,the down side is the the container quality is awful and the packaging sleeve seems to be the thing that keeps it shut ,as it has an access panel that does not remain shut because of the flimsy nature of materials and design of the catch.

And, if you're in GF they'll try to snag one for you. I really wanted one of the City-themed tins when they were available and after asking the FA she gave me the regular GF kit AND rustled up a Chicago tine from C.

Just did GF fromSFO to CDG and got the new kits. It's labeled BusinessFirst (I was in Global First) and the wrapper is the only thing holding it together. Looks nice but really cheap construction. I liked to old pleather kits, it came with more of the Cowshed items. I do like the look of the new sock, tho. They really need to get rid of the toothbrush IMO.

Sounds horrible! We've found the bags to be the most useful component when repurposed to hold small items we travel with. I hope this is a short-term substitution and goes away after the Olympics.

My wife likes the toothbrushes.

Hmmm. I wonder if they boarded the wrong stuff. In the past GF has always gotten the regular kit, which contains a whole lot more that what it sounds like is in the current kits.

Yes, I like the bags. I also like having both the p.s. and the BF bags, as the size difference turns out to be just right.

I think I've collected enough now and have started sharing with family, but I wouldn't pass a chance to bag a few more (pardon the pun :D).

I'll be on 180 HKG-EWR on Sunday. My favorite amenity kits were the old wire mesh bags. Those suckers were useful.

Metal tins, not so much. I took a couple of the old airport themed tins and found use for them, but then started leaving them behind. I've never kept the cowshed bags. The new tin doesn't look to interesting or useful to me.

Flew EWR-HKG today in BF. I was told the new kits were for a limited time for the Olympics. Agree with earlier posts about lack of quality in the case itself. Also, the odd shape makes it tough to squeeze one into an already-loaded carry-on, so I left mine behind.

When I flew GF during times when UA was giving out the city tin kits in C, FA gave us both the regular GF kit and the city one. Didn't have to ask. Assume they will do this when special C kits are being offered, as with this one which commemorates the 2016 Olympics and the US team (assume UA is their official carrier). We should be seeing the new Polaris kits in the fall.

Was on business first last Sunday and it was the old leather looking brown with the cowshed stuff.

Looking forward to the hexagonal one for a change. So far the most useful for me has been the PGA one. That bag stores my brook stone white noise machine!
I use the old global first bag for travel

Burned a GPU yesterday ORD-NRT to GF and only received the tin. Cool idea, cheap construction, would have preferred a leather bag.

It looks like a cylinder, not the hexagonal tin that OP described.

I was in BF VCE-EWR last Tuesday, and none of the seats had the amenity kits. If you asked the FA's they would bring it out to you (but only if requested) and they were the usual grey cloth kits with sample sized cow shed items, socks, eye shade etc.
