Terms and Conditions

* For this promotion, only dollars spent on the "fare" on eligible flights operated by United and United Express will qualify toward meeting spending milestones. Certain specialty tickets, including but not limited to unpublished, consolidator/bulk, group, tour and opaque fares, will not be counted towards spending milestones. Dollars spent on tickets purchased for flights operated by a Star Alliance member airline or a MileagePlus partner airline with tickets issued by United (ticket number starting with "016") will not qualify for this offer. The "fare" is the base fare of the ticket plus carrier-imposed surcharges, excluding any government-imposed taxes and surcharges. For tickets purchased in a currency other than U.S. dollars, we will convert the purchase to U.S. dollars using an industry-standard exchange rate. Please note that the price displayed when purchasing a ticket on united.com includes up to a 7.5% U.S. Federal Transportation Tax on the base amount of the fare on itineraries wholly within the United States. This tax also applies to certain itineraries between the United States and Canada or Mexico. The U.S. Federal Transportation tax will not count toward meeting any spending milestone.

** For this promotion, bonus award miles will be awarded for each spending milestone that has been met, subject to the terms and conditions. Milestone bonuses may be earned only once. Partial bonuses will not be awarded for members who don't reach a certain milestone. All calculations made in connection with this offer will be made by United MileagePlus® in its discretion and considered final.

Only original recipients of this email invitation can register and participate in this promotion.
Registration is required by November 15, 2016. Only tickets purchased and ticketed after registration and within the ticketing dates will qualify.
Ticketing and dates: May 25, 2016, through November 30, 2016.
Dollars earned toward this promotion will count as Premier® qualifying dollars toward MileagePlus Premier status qualification, but do not guarantee status. All other qualification requirements must be met for the applicable Premier® status.
This offer is not combinable with other non-combinable offers.
Bonus award miles will post to your account six to eight weeks after the promotion ends on November 30, 2016. Bonus will be calculated using the originally ticketed fares and/or fare classes, as applicable, and subsequent changes to any fares and/or fare classes as a result of itinerary changes, complimentary or paid upgrades, purchase of travel products (including but not limited to United ClubSM, Premier Access®, Award Accelerator®, Premier AcceleratorSM), irregular operations or otherwise will not be considered.

<redacted e-ticket verbiage>

If you received complimentary Premier status:

Your complimentary status is one level higher than the MileagePlus membership status reflected in your MileagePlus account on May 7, 2016. Your status will be not be increased to any other level in connection with this offer. If flights taken prior to May 7, 2016, are credited to your account after May 7, 2016, and result in you meeting the qualification requirements for a higher Premier status, your status will not be complimentarily upgraded again. Qualifying for a higher status level than the complimentary status awarded in connection with this offer requires meeting the published qualification thresholds for Premier status.
The complimentary status is valid through January 31, 2017.
A Premier membership card and kit will be not issued for the complimentary status period. Your new benefits will be reflected in your Mileage Plus account once you log in and you may enjoy Premier benefits on United- or United Express-operated flights by providing your account number when making reservations or at check-in.
During the complimentary status period, you may not have access to all reciprocal Premier benefits with United's partner airlines, including access to Star Alliance lounges.
Members will not receive Regional Premier Upgrades as part of this offer unless the published qualification thresholds for Premier Platinum status have been earned in the current year.
Offer is subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.

If you received an Economy Plus subscription:

The Economy Plus® subscription can be used only on flights operated by United and United Express in the 48 contiguous U.S. states (excluding Alaska and Hawaii).
The Economy Plus subscription is complimentary, and will not result in the subscriber earning Premier qualifying dollars. The subscription is neither changeable nor transferable.
The Economy Plus subscription is valid through January 31, 2017, and can be used to request an Economy Plus seat at no cost on flights between May 10, 2016, and January 31, 2017. Any flights taken after January 31, 2017, will not qualify under the Economy Plus subscription.
Economy Plus seats on qualifying flights can be selected on united.com at booking, after booking before check-in, during check-in or at a check-in kiosk in the airport. Economy Plus seat assignments are not guaranteed.

Agree

+100. Plus they don't even bother to give the promo to many folks. The end result though is more miles chasing the same seats = deflation.

So I had my MM status deflated (no bump up), and now I get the miles I "earn" by flying deflated (no offer) as well. Go figure.

I actually gave United a fare the other day (they were $300 cheaper one way in F SFO-ATL than was DL, and the time worked better for me) I'm now sort of sorry I did.

We have almost the same PQM ~75K, my PQD is ~$8K, her's ~$3K.

$2,000=23,000
$3,500=34,000
$6,000=56,000
Wow, that is a lot of miles for not that much spend. If I got that offer, I would easily throw the traffic to UA in a month. Alas, no offer to me.

Fly your way to 403,000 bonus miles:

$21,000 - 81,000 bonus miles
$25,000 - 121,000 bonus miles
$37,500 - 201,000 bonus miles

Not a bad offer!

I got the email:
$4000 - 11000
$4500 - 17000
$6500 - 28000

Slow start to the year, only sitting at $1127 PQM with another $1224 booked (ie, not eligible). I will probably hit it, but maybe not until near the end of the promo.

For the first time in a long while, I am going to have to complain to UA about the way these promotions are coming out, and that they are not rewarding those that (per capita) most significantly prop up the airline financially.

Let's do a simple calculation for anyone that posts stats to this thread:

Take the total award miles earned divided by the total PQD required.

Example (my offer):

214,000 award miles / $42,500 PQD = 5.04 award miles / PQD

The higher this number is, the more rewarded you are.

They must have low thresholds for low spenders like me. I will not spend a penny more than I need to; I am done chasing status and miles for several years now. I may not even hit the first threshold of $500 as I have purchased most of my tickets for this year already.
I got the exact same offer ( btw this is the first time I get an offer as overseas based ) and am in the same boat as you are. All my tickets for this year are booked. I am definitely a low, low spender now compared to years past.

Oh...wow...

Milestone 1: spend $13,500 and earn 31,000 bonus award miles
Milestone 2: spend $15,500 total and earn 46,000 more award miles
Milestone 3: spend $19,500 total and earn 77,000 more award miles

For reference current 2016 from Jan 1 through yesterday ~$16,500 PQD, 66 PQS, ~77,000 PQM... All domestic save for one CLE-SYD/MEL-CLE trip, so clearly the offer is heavily influenced by spend.

My understanding is that that is for travel booked on/after today and flown before the end of November; existing reservations and prior spend don't count, unless I wanted to go through cancel/refund/rebook which honestly isn't worth the hassle, IMO
.
In past years I would have said not a chance in heck of my hitting any of those targets. But in past years if I told myself I'd have 100k PQM, let alone by the end of June I would have laughed at myself. This year... Within the realm of possibility but not a given.

My specific offer:

$4500 for 17k
$5500 for 25k
$8000 for 41k

I'd do well if it weren't for the fact most of my travel in that period is already booked & paid for. I might have even stretched to hit the $8k offer (as I have ~$7k booked in that timeframe).

Not eligible, but we wouldn't be hitting any of the thresholds shown anyway.

Just got mine:

$2500 - 17,000
$3500 - 26,000
$6000 - 43,000

My wife and I were 1k for 5 years then dropped to Silver last year. We haven't booked a flight on United this year except for one award flight this summer to burn some miles. (We both were bumped to Gold but she has yet to receive this offer.) We had been spending $10 - $15k each per year.

And at least they acknowledge they know we haven't been flying them ... in the email they write "Try us again and see all our amazing improvements, including chef-designed meals and top-notch entertainment, with the added bonus of your new perks."

If they could only get us from Point A to Point B on time ...

United:
Dear NH_Clark,

We recently granted youPremier® 1K® status* so you can experience all the things that are changing here at United®. Now, we're inviting you to take advantage of an exclusive offer: Purchase and fly on United fares† to reach your personalized spending milestones and earn up to 104,000
$3,000 = 21,000 miles
$4,000 = 31,000 miles
$7,000 = 52,000 miles
First of all.. United, please get your records straight... I EARNED 1K despite the fact you deigned to "give" it to me during the flight I was earning it. Secondly, what are you doing to actually REWARD some of your most loyal and spending customers.. the real 1K premier flyer?

Wow. United must be in far worse shape than I realized. I have not seen give aways like this in many, many years. First tons of free Premier bumps, now free miles. What next? Free UC for everyone now that I have paid for a year of it? Seems like everything I either earn or pay for, United is now giving away for free. Makes me feel foolish for actually earning and paying for things with United.

71,000 miles for $40,000
107,000 miles for $45,000
178,000 miles for $50,000

Really odd numbers
