Has now happened to another unrelated link -- probably an issue at my end. Just paranoid UA will try to shut down the link.

Update -- all is well, after a couple hours of flaky internet, things seem to be working again
Comcast's internet service was out across the U.S. on Monday for several hours

Not sure what I'm missing ...

Using this tool to look up a flight on Saturday.

It shows: United PolarisSM business: 60 | Booked: 53 | Checked In: 0

But when I try to buy a business class ticket, I see there are 12 seats available.

Edit: To answer my own question, looks like there are only 7 seats available Available fare classes:J7 JN7 C7 D7 Z7

That will provide you information about who has already been upgraded (if any).
Just an FYI, this trick currently only works for a four day window, i.e. it is December 4th and when I enter this url:
https://mobile.united.com/FlightStat...ghtNumber=2020
I see the upgrade list for flight 2020 on 12/06/17 and when I enter:
https://mobile.united.com/FlightStat...ghtNumber=2020
I see last night's flight. However when I change it to
https://mobile.united.com/FlightStat...ghtNumber=2020
the website says it is an invalid date. When I go earlier in time, say Dec 1:
https://mobile.united.com/FlightStat...ghtNumber=2020
it also says that it is an invalid date.

You can check dates further out with the regular website: https://www.united.com/web/en-US/app...SO=SIN&FSD=SFO

FSO = origin; FSD = destination; FLN = flight number; FLD = flight date. Origin and destination must be uppercase.

You may need to reload the link a few times before it will work, but it does.

Historical data ages off of the website quickly.

The mobile website added a date filter a year or two ago. However, as jsloan explained above, the 'desktop' website can be manipulated in the same fashion. Occasionally it errors out to your first request (or maybe first 10 requests), but if you keep trying it will return the flight status.

You can also do this with the mobile app.

Just go to settings and manually set your date to the date of the flight, and then go into the app and search the flight status. Once you find it, then save it to your "home screen" in the app.

**NOTE: If you have any reservations saved in your mobile app that are not yours (family, friends etc), OR are not tied to your MP account, they will disappear if they occur before the date that you are setting your phone to (as the app sees them as being in the past, already flown)**

I love the tool and use it all the time. Within the last week I've been noticing that I'm unable to connect to your site.. Safari on my iPhone comes back as server not reachable and after a few tries it will connect? Thought I would advise. Thanks OP and safe travels!

Still works for me. Not sure it makes a difference, but have you tried the full URL (incl. https & www)?

just used the link you posted pretty much what I've been using because I sent the link to the favorites on my phone and this time I had about a 45 second delay until it connected.

Yeah I'm not 100% what's going on. I have no issues expect on one of my two iphones. I think there is an issue with the anycast routing that drives the main name and I will have to work that out with my provider.

Here are direct links to the servers behind the main site. I haven't had any issues with these loading. If you use one of these i would just pick one. The cookies that track your history won't work across different sever addresses.
