Best United aircraft to LHR

fellow FTers,

Could use a little help. Taking a work trip to London later this summer. Looking at flights there are a few aircraft options getting to LHR. Just trying to decide which one might be the best (in E+ btw). Looks like there are options between the 787, 767 and the 757.

Any advice would would be appreciated.

In E+, my choice would be 767, window going over, aisle back

767 for sure. Second choice 777. Avoid 757 and 787, the seats are so narrow for long flights.

Don't some of the three-class 767s still have the crappy looped video systems, and not AVOD? So watch for that if AVOD is a priority for you.

Yes. A relatively low priority, particularly on the redeye direction. BYO phone/tablet/laptop on the return for sure.

I prefer the 787 because I notice a difference in how I feel after flights on it with the better pressurization, humidity, and filtration. I did the 777 in March and hated it.

Good timing, I was looking for an thread like this.

IAH-LHR in J

2 flights on the 788 and one on the 763.

Would any suggest the 763 in J over the 788?

I know many say the legroom on the 772 is better.

Both are cramped products, more than an inch narrower than the 777 product.

Take seat B or E if you're right handed, just to let you cut your meal. Bulkhead is highly desirable to avoid the half-size footwells.

I usually like taking 1L as left handed. So I guess since both are cramped, the 787 would be better due to pressurization?

The 787 will have you feeling more refreshed, but the seat is a tad narrow. The 757's only two downsides are feeling cramped due to the narrow cabin and the seat being a little narrow. The E+ seat itself actually has more legroom than any of the other planes. The 777 has a wide seat, but E+ legroom can be disappointing. The 767 can be nice with the 2-3-2, but the planes with the old interiors are awful.

Personally, I would recommend (if possible) flying on a 787 eastward so you will feel refreshed when you wake up in London, and flying a 777 or 767 westward.

In E+ I strongly prefer the 767. After that, in order, the 777, 757, 787 and 747 (of the aircraft regularly serving LHR). I've not flown on the pmCO 767 or 777. In J, it's very different. In order: 747, 787, 767, 777, 757.

Thanks for input ya'll. Gonna try out the 763. Was looking at the 787 route just because the connection thru IAH gave me more miles.
