TCVA + "Based on your current selections, United payment types are not available"
Hi,
I have a few TCVA travel certificates that I'd like to use but I keep getting the error "Based on your current selections, United payment types are not available."
I am making sure that I am selecting United or United Express flights, but it never works. Even if I check for flights within the US.
What am I doing wrong?
I am based in Toronto, Canada if it matters.

I've never tried post-merger, but I'd guess if you call Web Support and want them to bill in Canadian $ and use a TCVA voucher, they could probably handle it there.

Sadly, this is right. There's been quite a spike recently in reported problems with UA and their technology, across a number of platforms. The advice mentioned above about web support is probably the best thing I've read in this thread, but you will need to get transferred to them from regular res. after explaining your issue.

Just tried a dummy booking yyz-ewr on united.ca, quote in CAD, payment page shows Based on your current selections, United payment types are not available. I believe it's been at least 2-3 years.

My disclaimer is that it doesn't specifically say web support when it picks up, although IIRC, it never did. Just tried it and when it picked up, said something like "Thank you for calling United Airlines" and indicated a hold time of 4 minutes and put me on hold. Didn't really feel like waiting, but it's definitely not the regular reservations number, though, as it doesn't indicate it knows who I am of give me the options it normally does.

She recommended smaller nominations as she told me I could combine them.
I looked at two one-ways and those are prohibitively expensive. So I guess my only option is to use one and give the rest away if I know I won't be able to travel again anytime soon?
