RESOLVED: E+ Disappeared?
EDIT: This behavior has reverted back to normal, so I will chalk it up to UA website gremlins.
Hi FT, I've never seen this before and a search did not seem to yield anything useful, though if this is a common occurrence I apologize for the duplication... I booked an E+ seat (I have a subscription to E+ since I'm a lowly MP Silver flyer who happens to be quite tall) on a flight from DEN-LAS in 10 days, and it happens to be in the middle. Not ideal, but I've usually had luck checking back periodically to see if seats on the aisle/window open up as the date of travel approaches. Oddly enough, when I looked this morning, ALL of the E+ seats had been converted into E-. There appear to be only F and E- seats now, which is frankly rather annoying since I chose this flight because my first option had no available E+ seats left. I tried logging out and back into my account as well as using an incognito window to view the open seats, but it all shows the same thing. The aircraft is a 737-800...am I just out of luck? I am thinking it might be a website glitch and will check back later, but if it's not, I'm not sure if I have any options apart from paying a $200 change fee to get onto a different flight with open E+ room. |
I saw something similar a few years ago when we were going EWR-NRT. At some point there was a glitch with the seating chart and all of the Y+ seats turned to Y-, and all of the J seats turned to domestic F seats (the orange angled oval seats turned to orange squares). Obviously since you are flying on a domestic AC, you wouldn't see the J's turn to F's. I did a phantom booking to see if I could have gotten a Y+ seat for the Y- price and it did allow it. In hindsight I should have seen if the F (J) seats were cheaper.

Could be a glitch or E+ is completely booked. An occurred E+ seat will look the same as an occupied E- seat on the seat map. Or do you see unoccupied seats in the E+ section and they are showing as E- seats. There are a couple rows, 14 and 15 I think, on some 737's that are not E+ and I have seen some seat maps show this then it changes to E+ later when they have the tail number.

We got burned back in October on an aircraft change. Picked up E+ seats at T-24 only to find them gone the next morning when they swapped aircraft and the new one only had a few rows of E+. It sucked for us since I took seats in front of the exit row knowing they would not recline but we would have extra leg room...that vanished in the swap.
