In my best George Jefferson - we are movin' on up, to the east side......
After this thread, I was able to book a Friday return in April at 1 pm on a 737-700! Never been so excited to fly that plane, laugh out loud!

Of course after I said something, EWR-SAV is now E170/E175's. Hallelujah.

Would much prefer these to the 737's. Not sure UA will fill the bigger jets.

Flying CHS-EWR end of this week on 737. Sadly, seems UA is scheduling almost all ERJ-145's on this route for the foreseeable future. Give us a taste, then pull it away.

My 737 flight above was the return of a charter for the tennis tourney. UA actually had a 737 with a 1 pm departure and a 145 with a 1:15 departure.

Anyway, seems like a lot of the mainline jets that have been scheduled have been taken away. There is generally one Saturday departure, but no return- it usually heads out to ORD I believe. I cannot express how much I hate this. I've begun to schedule meetings in NYC in order to take Jet Blue from JFK, etc. 145's, even with a 1:20 ride, are terrible. Horrible A gates in EWR, extremely uncomfortable, and on the return the EWR gate check is a scene out of 1970's NYC. Laziest and slowest union employees I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot.

Btw, not for nothing, but CHS is a dream airport. Absolutely lightning quick and phenomenal TSA Pre, the quickest gate checked baggage return (by probably 300-400%) I've seen anywhere, and by far the most knowledgeable, helpful, and engaging GA under the UA umbrella. The young man with the dark brown hair is easily the best and most efficient GA I've had dealings with over the past few years....

I tweeted UA about IAH-CHS. That flight is way too long for a 145. The 145s from ORD also need to go. We now fly WN CHS-HOU and CHS-MDW instead of being tortured on UA equipment (when those are our final destinations).

A UA employee told me it had something to do with ExpressJet contract and that over the next few years they should be phasing in some of the bigger regionals (which I'd prefer to the mainlines anyway). But he may have been blowing smoke....

IAH-CHS is way to long for a 145. It brings back bad memories about IAH-YYZ trips.

Which side of the plane enables you to see the 787 flight line (both landing and taking off)?

Good question. I'm not sure I know the answer....I've spotted it a few times, but not often. I'm generally distracted by the world's prettiest bridge. On the main road in/out of the airport you get a clear and sweet view of the dream liners lined up and freshly painted.

UA is phasing out 50 seat regional jets for larger regional jets.

Some progress for us with the most recent schedule change. E175s CHS-ORD and CR7s CHS-IAH. Haven't taken a look at the full schedule yet and I'm sure we'll still see our fair share of E145s, but this is definitely a step in the right direction!

That's encouraging. Still almost all E145s on the EWR side of things, though I did see a few Sunday E175s for late summer, early fall. While I prefer these over the 737s, that's really what they're replacing. Wondering if it's something with ExpressJet. E175s are in lieu of the mainline on the EWR route, not any of the 145.

GA Matthew in CHS (my favorite UA employee simply because he's super efficient, professional, and candid) told me last week that he believes EWR-CHS will be "mostly to all" E170 and larger by the fall. I don't know how that impacts schedules already out and posted, but he's always just smiled and nodded when I've complained about the 145's in the past.
