UA747: what was it - 90 on the first upgrade and well over 100 on the business upgrade? Had UA sold those middle seats, both numbers could have gotten close to 200 if not more.

I guess hardly noteworthy. But tonight out of HNL on a 757 the list is 41 long for 16 available booked seats ( full ). That's about 25% of pax. I don't fly much domestic, for me seems like a long list.
Nobody got upgraded, I was in paid F.

Perhaps UA should have some 777s laying around at their hubs in an all J configuration just in case, say, they want to process an entire upgrade list

Never thought a 738 has more seats than a 752. anyway, this morning from LAX to ORD same thing. 41 on the upgrade list for 20 seats that are all booked and gone. Again nearly 25%. Boy, I would hate to do this crapshoot every time I would fly domestically..

Wow. I thought 63 on IAH-ORD was a lot. (I've been bouncing around 15 as a 1K on an S fare)

UA747 according to a picture I took of the screens in the boarding area

88 on First for 12 seats
121 on Business for 52 seats

that was one of those no hope flights but it really didn’t matter 😀

I would hate to pay for domestic first (at least, at the amounts they charge). It's all a matter of perspective.

Generally speaking I agree with you. But I bought First since it was only 40% higher than Y and booked into P for 200% at time of booking. Needed PQMs
for requalification, so it was an easy choice for me. Less flying, more PQM.. With the new credit of just 150% it is a different story. Mine is a unique situation.

Flying an A319 tomorrow. 8 F seats (booked full), 120 Y seats.

70 people on the upgrade list.

LOL. Welcome to January.

1K, and I’m stuck in row 35. Fun times.

I know this is filed under the United area, but I can say on DL these high numbers are common. Any widebody cross country flight on DL frequently has 90+ on upgrade list. Not unusual at all.

HNL, as s leisure destination, gets a lot of NRSAs showing up on standby and upgrade waitlists.

Hawaii's gotten really difficult on the lie-flat flights. I'm on the 772 SFO-HNL later this week, and three weeks out there were only three empty seats.

(1) LAX-SFO/SEA (no PDX from here), I most likely won't pay for F
(2) LAX-DEN/IAH/ORD if the difference is reasonable, sure
(3) LAX-BOS/EWR pay for upfront all day everyday.

YMMV
