While gulag is descriptive of the seating, I feel that turd bird incorporates the continuous Chiming of ye Shunned Chimes and the wifi that seems to exist solely on the placards at the seats.

I have some free time to cool my head, and thought about this thread. Now being Thursday evening, I went to UA app to check out any long upgrade list. My first choice was ORD-SFO (based on anecdotal reports here) and I was not disappointed.

Which is more impressive?
  • UA 2055. B753. No upgrades. 83+ on upgrade list
  • UA 1742. B772 HD. Three (possibly four) upgrades. 103+ on upgrade list.

They both have 1 and 2 hours to go before takeoff, at the time of this post (hence the "+").

Check out UA2704 today (the 747 flying ORD-SFO at 18:30). 140+ currently on the standby list, 118 on the upgrade list. Granted most of those are nonrev.

Impressive -- 113 on the First Class upgrade list, 118 on the Business Class list, 3/4 empty seats in Coach!

Apparently it's up to 163 on the standby list.

Did anyone else notice the flight time has (and has for 24+ hours) an extra hour? Scenic route?

Somebody on another thread posted a screenshot where it was also showing the flight as being on a turboprop and not a 747.

From the looks of that upgrade/standby list, I'm guessing the people onboard will be disappointed at losing that extra hour.

UA2704 (ORD-SFO Boeing 747 flight) is now up to 179 listed for business class, 171 listed for first class. The cleared stand by list for economy is also the longest I have ever seen!

I think this is alittle too fanatical, this is an upgrade for public transportation, not a terrorist threat with people's safety in jeopardy.

Almost everyone on the plane is a non-rev and so is listed for both J and F upgrades. The J only upgrades are probably actual revenue Premier pax in Y.

How are those non-revs going to get back home? I doubt there are +150 seats available for SFO-ORD routes late tonight and all day tomorrow.
