Just coffee for me ... that assumes they can get through all 35 rows before putting the cart away for landing.
Booked a week ago - that’s fairly typical for me; wish my customers were better planners. :-)
Edited to add: door closed with 75 on the upgrade list. #1 got an onboard upgrade. Yikes!

I just boarded the opposite flight
SFO-LAX at 7am on a Sunday morning on a 737-900. First is booked and checked in 13/20, and there are ZERO on the upgrade list. I can’t remember the last time I had an empty seat next to me in domestic F.

You've been extremely lucky. It hasn't happened to me often but more than a couple times I haven't been able to pick E+ if I'm booking a close in flight or SDC. Even recently was kicked out of my E+ bulkhead seat to accommodate a disabled passenger and in to a E- seat in the back after boarding started.

The only 2 times I ever got upgraded as a Silver, SAT-ORD Monday morning and GEG-DEN Friday morning. Flights were on a 737 and A319 and about 40% capacity. Both had about 20 first class seats and not even 10 were occupied.

You are lucky. On my routes, all the A319s only have 8 First Class seats.

no signs of letting up anytime soon
90 people on the upgrade UA257 DEN-SFO tonight (a Monday)
85 on the list tonight for UA257 Tuesday April 23
Earlier on the 737-800 UA737 (ironically) at 17:21 there were 56 on the u/g list
And over at gate 38 UA1613 at 18:55
a 777 to LAX there are only a meagre 43 on the u/g list

Upgrade List: Nearly 40% of IAD - LAX Passengers on #2154 Tomorrow
Tomorrow morning's 8:15 IAD - LAX shows 56 out of 150 possible on upgrade list.
When I check in (hoping for a better Y seat to open up) that will be 57/150 = 38%
And it will likely go higher.
I know upgrade lists get long, but 40% of a flight?

Hub to Hub, Monday morning -- not surprized and likely to get higher. Wait for BG1.

On a percentage basis, the Monday morning 6AM ORD <> LGA flights are consistently 60%+, depending on time of year can be much higher.

Not the longest I've ever seen by was very surprised to see 71 passengers on the UG list for an A319 on a Wednesday evening from DFW > ORD last night. I was booked on a D fare but one upgrade did clear into 1F. I would never have thought there would be that many elites on a a non-hub-hub route, especially in AA's home.
