Children are not allowed to sit in bulkhead row?

Just off the phone with 1k line agent, who told me my 6 years old son couldn't sit in non-exit bulkhead row. I searched but didn't find any concrete answer, any idea?
Thanks all.

Ridiculous. Agent must have been confused about exit row rules.

When I was 14 I flew a LIM-CDG in a bulkhead. So I don't think it's anything FAA related, probably a mistake on the agent's side. Try changing the seat online, and it will probably let you without any pop-ups like the exit row ones.

Thanks Kacee & josseantonior

Just called again, at first this agent said there is no such rule but when he start moving us around he told me the system pops "young travellers are not allow to seat in bulkhead seats unless all other seats are assigned"...is this new?
I can't move my son to bulkhead online because we are under different confirmation number, that's why I called in the first place.

Is you son Gold or higher? Silvers can't assign E+ until T-24, and IIRC you can get him in only at the airport - and probably at the discretion of GA.

It would have to be super-new. I've flown in a bulkhead with my daughter in the past. She's now 7 and On Dec 29 I flew SJC-DEN with her in a bulkhead seat. The agent at the airport put us in those seats, and I don't think all other seats were taken (though maybe it was the only pair of seats adjacent to each other).

My son doesn't have status, but agent said the e+ fee is waived as long as I am on the same flight with him.

Never heard of that before.

I've seen kids in the bulkhead quite often. The space in front of the seats can serve as a little play area.

That's interesting. I wonder if the fee is waived because of relationship to you (as opposed to a friend) and if that's official? I haven't ever heard of this rule if on separate PNRs.

OP was provided nonsense. On BA economy cabin bulkheads are expressly designed for kids -- they have bassinets that latch to the forward walls.

Please look at the top of the page - this is United, not BA. What BA may or may not allow has no bearing on this thread.

Relationship is unimportant. Companions do not need to be on the same PNR. (As I recall, there was a short time several years back where they had this requirement, but that was a very long time ago.)

You can call and put your companion, friend or family into E+ even you are on separate PNR, I've done this several times.

Wow, that's really good to know! This would have come in quite handy in the past.

I can assure you young children are permitted in the bulkhead. Just three days ago, on a 738 there was a continuously-screaming four-year-old in the bulkhead row of Y, and I was in the last row of F. Y had many empty seats, too. Sadly, dad (or whomever was caring for the child) was paying more attention to his movie than the child.

Never heard of this either. What would the rationale be?
