Is this the swap for PEK that went 772 at the same time?

11/1 - UA 838 - NRT/SFO - 747 - Currently has a 4 hour and 10 minute delay. Now scheduled to leave at 10:30 pm.

Awaiting 10/31 UA 881 - ORD/NRT. Estimated departure time is 6:30 pm, with an arrival in NRT 8:55 pm.

It appears that the original 747 flying from ORD/NRT is out for maintenance. A replacement 747 (#8475) flew from SFO/ORD as UA 624, which should be a 777. I'm assuming instead of cancelling the ORD/NRT flight, United swapped out the 777 for a 747 on today's SFO/ORD flight.

I wonder what the reason is behind the UA decision as to whether to axe 870 or 840.
I thought the reasons 840 is sacrificed instead of 870 are:
1. Easier to get people onto OALs (QF AA VA DL)
2. 870 is more of a 'flagship' or premium business flight

UPS has just made an order for 14 x 747-8F perhaps UAL will see the error of their ways and order 24 747-8 .

There was a swap today. The plane that came in from TPE was supposed be used for SFO IAH at 11am.
Then it got towed away as it was broken down. (delay also aircraft preparation) Another 787 was brought in and the flight 2+ hours delayed.
I guess the 787 was needed from IAH to somewhere tonight.

This left SFO TPE with an 'unprepared' aircraft.

Or they are waiting for the return of the 787 from IAH.

UA180 was a longass day for folks today . Fuel stop in SFO, then it broke down taxiing in SFO, returned to gate, and finally took off and services EWR 4+ hours late.

Unreal. Why anyone would choose UA over CX with this kind of shenanigans going on all the time, I don't know.

Starting yesterday SFO-TPE operates by 747 instead of 789.

Those equipment arrived early without immediate turn-around will be towed away since intl G is quite gate constrained during the morning Asia arrivals. the same 789 ship 3966 that came in from TPE(last TPE 789 flight before 747 flying) continued to operate SFO-IAH from gate 80, although the plane indeed went mx. It's currently scheduled to operate IAH-SFO tomorrow morning.

Turned around over Boise. Another 788 MX, I'm sure we are all shocked.

It was supposed to be a 50-minute stop totaling 70 minutes on the ground resulting in a less-than-2-hour delay. The ground time ended up being 3 h 32 min!

And:

UA32, LAX-NRT, (789) is running 1:27 late after returning to the gate.

UA888, SFO-PEK, (744) departed SFO 2:37 late, and is currently running 1:44 late.

UA891, SFO-PVG, (789) departed SFO 1:59 late, and is currently running 1:19 late.

UA2023, YVR-IAH (739) was cancelled due to maintenance

And Tuesday's UA838 (NRT-SFO, 744) was cancelled due to operational disruptions

With the current performance of the 777 fleet, what is the likelihood that UA35 (SFO-KIX) could get sacrificed for other Asia-bound flights?

I'm going SFO-TPE in 3 weeks and I'm already worried - either an operational mishap, long delay, or downgrade of aircraft resulting in possibly lost upgrades or other chaos.

What happened to Oscar's focus on reliability?

Did UA32 eventually cancel yesterday? UA.bomb says it returned to gate and than it cancelled but maybe there was an aircraft swap to a different 787? At the same time, it also showed that the flight arrived 90 minutes late.
