Per the first post by UAInsider

"Based on departure time, the complimentary snack may vary. Those flying on flights departing before 9:45 a.m. will receive a morning stroopwafel – a Dutch caramel-filled waffle to pair with coffee, tea, or to enjoy on its own. Flights departing after 9:45 a.m. will offer packaged savory snacks, such as an Asian-style snack mix of rice crackers, sesame sticks and wasabi peas or a zesty-ranch mix of mini pretzel sticks, Cajun corn sticks and ranch soy nuts."

I was on a E145 from EWR-BDL and they did a full with snacks. But that's only a few aisles and is 2-1 config. If your EWR-BOS was on a A320 Family or 737, I can see why they cut the snacks.
EWR-BOS was an older 737-400 (I think?). No service of any kind due to turbulence which never really hit. But thats what the pilot said.

Return was one of the nasty 737-900s with no entertainment of any kind, fresh from SFO.

Full drink service, but no snacks.

No 734s left in fleet.

Probably a -700.

Never were any -400s in the sCO or sUA fleets. Plenty of -300s and -500s both sides but n'ay a -400.

Thumbs down No Snacks?

I traveled on four UA flights now and no snacks. Shortest flight was LAS-DEN and longest one was IAH-MSP, both flights over meal times. What are the flight requirements?

Oh the stroopwafel exists and it is awesome. I think they only serve it in the AMs though. Other times it is a snack mix type bag which isn't anything special.

They do exist and I'm not a fan to be honest - I'm in F now on the way to ORD enjoying my usual heart attack on a plate from UA - the warm scone. Yummy.

I am currently on UA516 in E+, SFO to IAD, and just received the stroopwaffel. Certainly not a big deal by any means, but a nice touch in the new world of fee-for-everything. It was tasty too!
