Award Redemption by Market vs Actual Saver Availability

This has probably already been discussed but I'm seeing that Saver Awards are no longer determined based on whether there's saver availability, but that they're factoring in the 'market.'

For example, I'm looking to fly FLL-SEA connecting through ORD on Jan 19th. After logging in and accessing Premier Inventory, there's saver award availability on FLL-ORD (UA1290) and ORD-SEA (UA1641) but when I try FLL-SEA, the same flights don't show up as saver, only standard. Is this new?

Living in Seattle, where they're scaled back, this could be a huge hit if awards are going to be priced at standard levels. Too bad I kept flying w/ UA even after they checked out of SEA...

Thanks,
OilersFL

If you do a search for the term "married segments," I believe you will understand better what is going on here (although this example does not appear to be the classic example of MS)...unfortunately, it is a term that will become increasingly common in the future and not just on United Airlines.

You can book this as a saver award (12.5K) using multi-city.

Could be just a website bug. There are plenty of those these days.
