DEN to LHR - through IAD or EWR?
Looking for advice on a trip to London.. I'll be travelling from Denver to LHR in February, it looks like I can either fly through IAD or EWR and arrive in LHR at basically the same time.
I'm hoping to upgrade to business using points. Does anyone have an opinion on:
a) which route would have better upgrade availability?
b) any reason why I should choose one over the other?
Thanks in advance!

Coming from DEN you can also look at ORD and IAH. It is always best to book something that is a confirmed upgrade (open R space) at booking as opposed to going on the wait list as in reality no one really knows your chances of clearing off the wait list.

Simple answer: Whichever presently has R space available.
Longer answer: I've connected through every hub that serves LHR post-merger to find upgrade space (EWR, IAD, ORD, SFO, LAX, IAH). I am typically out on Sunday or Monday back on Friday type of traveler so running into the peak of paid business travel. Outbound my best bet was the last flight out of IAD. EWR almost never had space; ORD and IAH were my next most frequent and perhaps IAH has improved as the price of oil has dropped.

IAD and EWR both have very nice LH lounges, but at IAD you don't have to reclear security to use it.

I refuse to use either miles or $$$$ to fly in C (Business) on the sUA 772s, which are the typical equipment on the late IAD-LHR flight. The seats are inferior as compared to the sCO 772s. YMMV.

My last two flights have been 787 (including a brand new 787-900).

Upgrade DEN->IAD honestly zero chance, every time I do that flight it is jammed.
I like IAD since it has the only day flight to LHR (9.05am->9.25pm).
+1 on LH lounge at IAD.
Avoid EWR as ORD as much as possible, places are zoo's.
