What Lodging Choices Are Offered by UA at O'Hare (ORD) During IRROPS?

Looks like United will be putting me up in Chicago tonight. Anyone know if they have a preferred hotel they use?

Last month after a delayed flight was going to cause a missed connection United put us up at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. Also gave us $45.00 in food vouchers which we were able to use at the hotel.

A family member was put up at the Hyatt. Note: this is NOT the Hyatt Regency OHare property, but another Hyatt on River Road, across the street from the Rivers Casino.

Isn't the Hyatt Regency in Rosemont? This is my company's preferred hotel and I've been there a number of times...

I've been lucky to get the ORD Hilton pretty much every time in the last few years...Occasionally it has taken some prodding at the United Club, but they've always come through.

Yes, the Hyatt Regency O'Hare is also in Rosemont. But the Hyatt property being referred to in the post I quoted is actually called the "Hyatt Rosemont".

Over the past three years, I've been put at the Hilton O'Hare (3x), Hyatt Rosemont, and Aloft O'Hare.

Note that even if UAL does not provide lodging, O'Hare airport authorities may provide rudimentary lodging facilities -- image from Wiki:

Passenger assistance program

Was your flight canceled and you must spend the night at O'Hare? When requested by the airlines, the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) will provide cots with a pillow, blanket and a Passenger Amenity Kit (toiletries) to help make your unplanned stay a bit more comfortable. Check with your airline to determine if the Passenger Assistance Program is available.
Is United included on the list of Passenger Assistance Program airlines? Yes, they're cots and not a private suite at the Ritz, but at least ORD authorities are trying, which is definitely better than sleeping on linoleum ticketing hall floors.

I was put up at the Hilton O'Hare and given meal vouchers that were good either at the hotel or could be used at the terminal restaurants. Decided I would use at the hotel as I wanted to get checked in, drop off my bag etc. Went to the sports bar in the hotel - burger, fries, a couple of beers, +taxes + tip came out to more than $60! Ouch. Shouldnt have been surprised that I had to dig into my own pocket, but still was. LOL

UA's meal vouchers are never good for alcoholic beverages, so if you subtract the beers, it sounds like you did cover the meal costs at the Hilton. $45 in vouchers sounds well above the typical $7 per meal limit that used to be offered. You made out well.

For the record, the HR O'Hare has a club lounge (located in the main building on the lobby level, almost in the opposite corner from the front desk) while the Rosemont Hyatt has no lounge. [There's speculation that it might become a Hyatt Centrum (new brand) soon.]
