Smisek Out; Oscar Munoz Named CEO

Great news. Even if it is addition by subtraction.

Edit: others have left too - related to a federal Investigation??

It was much hoped for around here.

Not a job I'd wish on anyone.

The board wants to be compared to companies like CSX from a stock perspective, so that rationale makes sense. He's also a director dating back to the Continental days.

And looks like the fallout of the Port Authority that's a driver here. Notice the other departures announced.

How he does with the labor unions will be the test...but lots of murkiness with that Port Authority issue being part of this

That's the most poorly written, corporatized press release I've ever read. And the airline is going to be run by a former railroad, and consumer brand company? Not to troll, but, they think this will make things better?

The departures announced today are in connection with the company's previously disclosed internal investigation related to the federal investigation associated with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The investigations are ongoing and the company continues to cooperate with the government.
Wow.

It's about time.

The quality of United flights is getting lower and lower every time I fly.
