Here's the problem I'm having.
I'm flying into DTW and returning from GRR next weekend.
If I book DTW-DTW for car rental, price is $53 total.
If I book same timed DTW-GRR, price is $223. How does that even make sense? Hertz says there could be a one way dropoff charge, but is it really that much?
And also, does it matter if booked through united.com or hertz.com? They both use the same Discount and Promo code, but United.com only shows me airports.

Still not bad. Still don't know if it's good for non-airport and non-corporate locations.

But do you really have to book through united.com?

Yuck! I want to book at hertz.com!One question: if a reservation is booked through .bomb without a code, and I add the promotional code on the Hertz site afterward - will I still get the bonus miles? Just debating whether or not I need to entirely cancel and rebook certain reservations I have already made...

Is there any sort of name matching when crediting a rental to UA? I have a friend who will be renting for an upcoming trip and he doesn't have any sort of rewards accounts (and has no interest in signing up). Would I be able to credit to my account if it's under his name?

I bit and got my 5,000+500 miles. However, I re-examined my invite e-mail and it says "These bonus miles are in addition to the offer you typically enjoy with Hertz: up to 40% off and 1,250 award miles on all Hertz rentals." The bolding is theirs, not mine. However, the screenshot at the head of this thread references a typical award of 1,000 miles.
Which is correct, 1,000 or 1,250? And either way since I've got 500 "typical" miles already, am I supposed to expect additional miles at some point (500 or 750, depending on which one is correct)?

As a United Silver using the 2500 version of the 2500/5000 bonus, I got 2500 + 500 + 500. 2500 from the 2500/5000 bonus, 500 as the starting point of "normal", and then another 500 since I'm United Silver.
I seem to recall that the second 500 (for being United Silver) took a few days longer to post to .bomb than the 2500 or the first 500. (I hate that .bomb doesn't show the actual posting date, only the transaction date or effective earning date, to hide how long they take to post.)

Miles finally posted. Frustrating to have to do all that followup but for 8000 miles. All worked out well.

Getting a little antsy... I only completed the rental 3 weeks ago with the 7500 bonus... and T&C say 6-8 weeks for posting. Based on what I'm reading here, seems many of you got them a lot sooner. My only concern is that I used girlfriend's MP #, and my name was on the rental. Nothing in T&C about matching name requirements, but concerned nonetheless.
