There is no GlobalFirst lounge at IAH.

And yes, the Global First lounge is a definite upgrade from the standard United Club. Better food. WAY BETTER drinks.

It's markedly better when it's also used by partner's like ANA. SFO for example. Even the old one at LAX was pretty good, and was nearly always empty in the mornings, save for the occasional TV actor. But, the lounge is gone and so are the Hollywood types, I think they've moved on to AA.

Likely true. Although, SAAVY UA management is just glad to report that F travelers don't really exist, so they are happy to ditch F "real estate".
Oh well.

WAY BETTER drinks.
At LHR, they actually share a bar. Then again, the LHR UC is really quite good.

I have not been to the new LHR club as I am usually TPAC. Are you saying that the United Club and the Global First Lounge serve the same liquor brands? And they are without additional cost?

I find that incredible if true. Maybe I am missing something...

That would potentially suck, as the GFL is far smaller and quieter than the UC at LHR.

No they don't, at least the champagne is a notch higher in the GF lounge and I think the still wines are completely different too.

I wonder why they are doing this when GF is going away.....

It's a definite plus for GS, especially since my frequent IAH<->LHR flights are all 2-class.

Oh dear. The United Club is full of United Club members.

Historically, AA ExecPlat OW Emerald has been more difficult to earn as one must either fly 100k miles OR earn 100k points (some faresearn 0.5 pts, some 1.0, and some 1.5). For UA 1K, one must earn 100k EQM, which reflect either 1.0 or 1.5. So, a typical pax, who flies a combination of discounted Y fares and some full-fares, would reach UA's 1k level faster than an AA pax would reach EXPLT.

UA's $12,500 spend has likely thinned the ranks a bit, but my guess is that AA still has a smaller % of EXPLT than UA has 1Ks.

The AC lounge at LHR blows, so you gotta add some smarter AC biz flyers, AC elites, etc to the already busy UC.

I'm flying SFO-FRA in paid business later this month. What are my chances that I get to experience the GFL?

Do I just go to the normal United Club and hope they redirect me?

I also have access to the AMEX lounge, but is the GFL better than then AMEX one?

Thanks.

I'm on 895 tomorrow in R and would love this.

Of course, what I'd love even more is an on-time arrival in HKG.

I'd say your chances are higher of getting in the lounge than being on time but here's hoping to both!
