Targeted promotion (TB9M28): Bonus miles per segment and for meeting PQD goals

My version:

Longer (>3,000 miles) and p.s. flights:
QVW: 500 bonus miles per segment
YBMEUH: 1,000 bonus miles per segment
FAJCDZP: 2,000 bonus miles per segment

Shorter flights:
QVW: 250 bonus miles per segment
YBMEUH: 500 bonus miles per segment
FAJCDZP: 1,000 bonus miles per segment

Maximum 75,000 bonus miles earned on a per segment basis.

PQD Goal 1 (by October 31):
1,500 PQD: 25,000 bonus miles

PQD Goal 2 (by December 31):
Either: 3,500 PQD: 50,000 bonus miles
Or: 5,000 PQD: 100,000 bonus miles

Maximum 125,000 bonus miles earned on a meeting PQD goals basis.

Maximum 200,000 bonus miles earned from this promotion as a whole.

----------

I'm not hugely excited at the bonus miles per segment, but the bonuses for PQD goals are sufficient to motivate me. PQD Goal 1 is almost exactly half of what I've earned so far this year, so pretty doable by October 31. The smaller of the two PQD Goal 2 numbers would be a stretch for me, but not inconceivable.

[Reserving this post in case I come up with a good use for it like summarizing different people's versions.]

Is this an actual promotion? The PQD rewards seem excessively generous. As someone with >$15K spend already, naturally I'm not eligible for this offer.

I can understand your reaction. My first draft of text for starting this thread had a clause in it to the effect of "is this too good to be true?"

I can promise you that I didn't make it up. (I can't promise whether the folks behind generating the different versions of this promotion for different folks targeted might or might not have screwed up the numbers vs. what was intended.)

I am also a UA silver out of SFO and not eligible. 17.5k PQM and 2.8k PQD to date. Another 12k PQM booked. We are planning to book p.s. flights around Christmas time and I have a couple more work trips to book this fall so it will be interesting so see if more people receive the offer.

I understand the marketing aspect of it - but it still makes me want to leave UA - I don't begrudge them wanting to incent people to step up - but when you reward substandard fliers more than loyal fliers it really gets tough to justify the loyalty

I am sure that UA tailors this to recruit people who might be trailing off in their UA spend.

Those of us who have already requalified for 1K obviously have no hope of ever getting one of these deals.

Yes - it's like a giant middle finger to all of us that stay loyal to UA in spite of all of the challenges we face every day....

OP is nearly a Million Miler with UA. I assume it means OP has been a profitable customer in the past.
