SFO only or System wide Problem at check-in?
I just dropped my wife at SFO and she reported that there seemed to be a system wide problem. None of the Kiosks were working and the United people were writing up luggage tickets by hand. She was told it was a system wide problem when she got an agent but they weren't telling anyone in line what was up.
P.S. Not a big fan of the new kiosk/checkin layout either.

Why? Stuff goes down. Sure you can architect around potential outages, but the IT folks are probably doing the best they can with the resources and direction they have.
The problem lies with the management and senior leadership not fighting or getting the resources they need, and not developing a clean, manageable architecture to prevent these sorts of things from happening.
Recall the pmUA IT chief said he was being setup to fail if he had to keep SHARES. He lost his job over it. And frankly, he made the right decision.
The new UA CIO started only a few months ago. So hopefully she can use this as an example to fund a solid infrastructure and vision.
