LH Fares earning post March 2015 - some fares 75/50/0% - post March 2018 now 100% PQM

I've flown roughly 400k miles on United over the last 4.5 years. My main flight (IAH to ACC) has even changed from a direct from IAD to a pretty bad layover in FRA. The ONLY reason I've stuck with United is because of my status and the perks that come with it.

Today I book my normal itinerary, it's on Lufthansa planes which happens 70% of the time, and the lady on the phone tells me I won't get credit for any miles for the flight because of the fare class (it's K) and it being on Lufthansa. Is this correct? I have flown this exact itinerary almost 30 times and never had this happen before. If true, this is the last piece I need to just go ahead and make the switch over to Delta which has a direct from JFK to ACC.

Have a look at http://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/Mark...spx?ItemId=298 .

Yes, a LH K fare earns 0% PQM when accrued to UA.

If the ticket is on 016 stock, it should earn RDM based on the price you paid. It's not clear to me how many PQD and RDM you are "supposed" to earn from fares that earn 0% PQM. Hmmmm.

The IAH-ACC K fare is phenomenally cheap, $271++ RT.

Buy the L fare instead for $629++ RT and you'll get 100% credit.

I understand that it's less expensive, but it seems insane to pay another $450/person for 16k miles.

OP, do you happen to recall what fare classes the previous flight were?

I've been looking for that info, but United reservations only seems to have data going back a few months. I always just book the least expensive flight. Those prices have varied over the last 4.5 years from $1100 to $2700 depending on time of year.

A $271++ ticket would earn about 3,000 miles.

A $629++ ticket would earn about 7,000 miles.

A difference of only 4,000 miles.

Sorry, I must be missing something. I usually get ~16k miles on this itinerary when I fly it. In fact, that's what I got when I flew it in January.

UA changed how you earn redeemable miles on March 1st. It's by price instead of distance flown.

K has been 0 mileage earning atleast for the last few years. If by any chance, you were on United Metal, that is the only way you could have earned PQM and RDM even for K class. Have been burned many time because of my own fault.

Man, sucks for me. Delta program better for me in long run or is this just bad luck? I work for a non-profit, so I am not going to pay more every flight just to get miles.

Log into your MP account and view your Account Details. You will see the fare classes there.

2014 I flew W class (2), V class, L class (2), S class (3), and T class (6).

It was my lowest mileage since 2011, and I flew 76,360 miles over 20 segments.
