Turkish Airlines Availability Down?
A couple of weeks ago I was looking at flights from SFO/LAX to Istanbul and was seeing wide open availability for the non-stop flights at the partner saver level (30k economy and 70k business). The availability was plentiful. Now when looking it's much more difficult to find availability on the same flights (or they're not showing up at all). Anyone know if something happened there with Turkish Airlines limiting the availability of its awards? Hoping it's just a temporary thing.

Honestly that fast though? I don't see much people flying IAH-IST.
I heard the route was so empty they were running economy fares starting from $700 R/T. Only reason I care was because TK was what I used to book a few dummy trips to europe. Than ill wait within 14 days of actual intended traveling date to switch itinerary to LH. (During the United Saver Partner Sale) |
I snagged a bunch of C awards about 4 weeks ago for late summer, but all but one are via IAH. (My own return is through SFO.) I did not find any availability from LAX. Boston seems seemed to have space, but it was on an Airbus 340 with slanted seats, so a non-starter.

Regarding the IAH flights, they have some amazingly low fares for last minute purchases as well. I was looking for IAH-ZRH with only a few days notice about two weeks ago and the connection in IST was about a fourth the price of any other itinerary. (For travel in Y)

connection hub
There's like almost no reason why one would want to fly tk out of Houston
Istanbul is not even convenient for an connection and there's LH on an a380 Tk premium economy is alright but whoever designed that J product ....... |

Compared to what? The TV dinners and 2-4-2 business class seating on PMUA 777s?
FYI... LAX/SFO flights operate with small C cabin - only 28 seats - if you see availability - just grab as it will be gone soon... IAH operates with large C-cabin - 49 seats - award availability should be good... PS. Premium Economy is no longer offered on IAH flights |

EK , A380 QR, 772 UA's coming out of Houston are mostly 2-2-2 config'd. |

People snagged the awards. TK releases award seats in batches and they don't last long. Snooze and lose.

I like the IAH-IST flight. Good for connecting on both ends. I'm also a fan of TK in general and will almost always choose them if I can. Glad to see the service start at SFO.

I'm referring to IAH specifically where TK is burning money flying the route.
