Espresso Machines on pmCO Widebody and pmUA 2 Cabin 763's discontinued April 1, 2015

Subject says it all, but I was told on a flight earlier this week that the Espresso machines will be removed effective April 1. The reasoning I was told for the removal of these machines and service was due to reliability issues.

They were reliable.

It was reliable that I got the *stink eye* if I dared ask for an espresso on a BF flight. 50% of the time I never got one and no explanation and the other 50% of the time I got one 30 minutes later..but it was good.

LH/TG/SQ/NH/(others?) don't seem to have this "reliability" issue

Major thumbs down. The only drinkable coffee on international flights.

Don't believe the reliability nonsense. It's a cost cut. Why is it that virtually every other foreign carrier doesn't have "reliability" issues with espresso machines? Does LX have this problem? OS? CX? AA on their 77W/32T?

Just a cheap move. I don't buy any other explanation.

April Fools!

On the customer. Again. As usual.

Nothing about reliability that I know of just another cost cutting measure.

Reliability in that they're only on a fraction of the longhaul fleet?

It is/was only on the sCO fleet.

But which aircraft types? 772? 764? 752?

777/764/787. Espresso machines were also installed on the sUA 2-cabin 763s.

They were reliable on my flights taken via PMCO aircraft: offered espresso 0% of the time. :td:

Way to go UA. Crap coffee now standardized across the fleet. :td::td:

It never ends.

Really pathetic. I get it if they're not used all that much (doesn't help I've never been asked for one), but still, they're equipment already paid for an installed.

Xyzzy Mar 20, 2015 6:03 pm

They were always reliable -- and I was never denied an espresso when I asked for one. I think most pax never knew that fresh espresso was available. It was only listed in one line of the menu and most pax never knew ab:out it. Instead of having the crew specifically offer this or making it more well known, UA is removing it. :td:

They're actually on the 787? They weren't aware of the reliability issue before they sunk the cash into fitting them on a brand new type? I don't know about you guys, but when I make crap up I try to invent a lie that doesn't have the side effect of making me look dumb.
