Global Services experiences 2015

I thought it might be fun to have a GS experiences thread for this year. We had one a few years ago and it was interesting to see (and nice to be seperate from the endless question asking in the qual/benefit/QA thread). If mods disagree, feel free to move it

I have to say great start to this year - had some award travel opened for my family from t bucket, flew a non-meal flight where the purser got me a snack box when I just offhandedly mentioned I hadn't had time to grab dinner, and got called by name at the gate in MCO. It's nice to be back ^

Across the aisle flying EWR-BRU I heard the GS agent come on and welcome the guy on board, asked if he was cozy, wanted anything to drink or needed a shower or lounge access in BRU and that she could call ahead for him.

*sigh*
If only my $25k/year was enough.

5 years of excellent GS experiences. 2015 experiences... Excellent especially with IRROPS. But... experiences = no more as my last day of GS was yesterday's flight. Did not re-qualify... But offered a challenge to renew and goal is to be back on the saddle and will continue to share experiences! It is a special program IMO. And service has improved tremendously over the years.

Here is my first fun GS experience of the year. This morning when I went to check in for my LAX-JFK PS flight tomorrow morning (confirmed business seat), found out my flight was changed to an afternoon flight, no assigned seats, only economy middle seats available. Flight status on UA website shows original flight still on time and not cancelled. Call to the GS direct line, on hold for 8 minutes, then put on hold for another 14 minutes while the agent tried to reach a supervisor to find out what was going on. They finally told me they determined it was a "computer error" that caused me to get bumped and were able to put me back on the original flight. So I am back to where I was, minus the loss of 35 minutes this morning.
Looks like they are really resource constrained today. If it takes 30 minutes to resolve something like this for a GS I can't imagine what it is like for others. I understand the situation today on the East Coast and Midwest so not complaining (to put in perspective, most of my calls to the GS line have been handled promptly and well).

Thumbs up

Newly minted GS traveling January 31 from YEA, DEN, MFR but missing connection in DEN. Exited YEA in DEN to find smiling GS Agent waiting on the Jet Bridge who escorted me to the awaiting Mercedes and driven across tarmac to SFO jet and finally SFO-MFR. While saying goodbye the Agent handed me First Class ticket for each flight.
Arrived home late, but without intervention I would have been spending the night away from home and probably missed my family Super Bowl party.
So early in my GS experience and nothing but totally impressed^

Short connection at IAH, looked out the window and saw a Mercedes Benz next to the ramp and wondered if it was for me. Exiting the plane and was met by GS agent who escorted me down the stairs where they drove me to my connecting flight.

BOS - EWR

Took a quick Boston trip for lunch with a colleague - coming back I checked in at the GS counter in the new terminal - very nice by the way - very pleasant woman checked me in - she checked upgrades and actually looked disappointed to tell me I was number 3 with all but one checked in - she asked me if I would like an aisle seat and then changed my economy seat from 11F to 12C - flight was booked nearly full but 12B remained as one of the only open seats on the plane - have no idea if it had anything to do with GS but I hope it was and I was extremely happy.

I had a grand total of 1 flight this year in early January. Most flights have been on TK, SQ, LH and CA. Even MU and SN got on my itineries before I start UA again. Nothing excited to report from the one single UA flight..

GS phone agent did impressed me with award travels and upgrades.

I won't really start flying UA until this weekend. Hope to experience good services now I have been spoiled by SQ and TK onboard services.

One 2015 negative experience here...two GS coworkers of mine tried to SDC from a confirmed UA metal M class tickets upgraded to domestic F to an earlier codeshare flight operated by AC. Separate GS phone agents "confirmed" them on the flight (each coworker called separately to make the change), but when they showed up at the counter, AC informed them that the transaction never processed due to no availability on their side. The GS agents had neglected to call AC to confirm seat availability before pushing it over. This means they had lost their seats on the original flight. GS was able to put them back onto it but only in middle E- seats.

The shower you can get as a "mere" J customer, and you even get met by a GS agent on arrival who can escort you to the Sheraton. But the pre-flight cozyness check is reserved for GS.

Does GS get to use Global First Lounge on a PS flight?

I was certainly invited to use it at JFK a few weeks ago. Don't know about SFO. They are very protective of their lounge there. And RIP LAX GFL.

I've had recent success at JFK and SFO.

Thank you !

On my way to JFK - if I don't get in I will let you know - (The GFL in JFK is not really anything I aspire to, it is pretty boring but hate to have expectations unmet)

Yes but only if you are in BusinessFirst. If so they will let you in for sure at JFK and SFO.
