UA Press Release dated October 14 2015.

Oct 25: PS menus get upgraded and look delicious
Nov 1: Domestic first flights between 1:30 and 3:59pm that are more than 3 hours get lunch
Nov 1: Hawaii and transcon redeyes get dinner service

Beginning Nov. 1, the airline will refresh lunch and dinner choices for United First and United Business customers on flights throughout the U.S. and Canada, and to Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America leisure markets.

United-operated flights that currently offer meal service will addnew dishes, like Spanish paella, mushroom risotto and seafood cioppino on shorter dinner flights.

Meal window expansion

The carrier will also expand meals to:

Lunch flights longer than three hours, departing between 1:30 and 3:59 p.m., which will offer options that include seasonal entree salads like a Napa salad with grilled salmon, goat cheese and fig and an arugula salad with Milanese-style chicken; and

Late-night flights between Hawaii and Houston, Chicago, New York/Newark and Washington, which will offer full dinner service with new entrees, such as hoisin short ribs with wasabi grits and stir-fried vegetables.

Late-night non-p.s. transcontinental flights and service between Hawaii and Los Angeles, San Francisco and Denver, as well as other late-departing flights of at least five hours and 20 minutes, will offer hearty sandwiches after takeoff, such as a pretzel burger with bleu cheese dressing, arugula and pickled onions, followed by warmed pastries before arrival.

United will continue to offer its p.s. made-to-order sundaes for dessert, followed by bake-on-board cookies prior to arrival.

I like the cookie better anyways, although it's almost certainly less healthy than the snack basket choices

These have been in the works and nice to see them roll out now.

Also more new menu items all around....

PS Menu items sound delicious and contemporary

After starting with new appetizers like roasted duck with stone-ground mustard and fig, peppered goat cheese with pumpernickel bread, customers may dine on new salads, such as butternut squash with haricots verts, pumpkin seeds, bleu cheese, cranberries and pickled onions or granny smith apple with shaved fennel and beets.

New entrees will include a flat-iron steak with grilled broccolini, gigande beans and red chimichurri; duck confit ravioli, mushroom ragout, semi-dried tomatoes and sauteed asparagus; and lamb shoulder with sauteed gnocchi, eggplant confit and lamb jus.

United will continue to offer its p.s. made-to-order sundaes for dessert, followed by bake-on-board cookies prior to arrival.

                  Here are pics of some...

                  http://newsroom.united.com/Fall_Food_Changes

The salmon salad looks more modern than what we've had - but the salmon portion looks a bit small - guess that's part of how the cost worked out. But probably tastes nice..

PS main course looks like the same generous helping though.

It's about time they changed the ps menus.

Although the descriptions in the release don't sound at all appetizing to me.

Nice to see meals back on 3hr flights in afternoon and transcon redeyes...

Can't believe they are spinning "beef hoison" (the poison hoison!) as a new menu option. We're sick of it United. At least I am!

Are we ever going to see new menu items on longhaul intl flights? I flew IAD-MUC a month ago and it was same options we've seen for the past 5+ years

See the thread about the EWR/ORD business class 'test flight' focus groups some people are getting.

Guessing they are testing that out on those focus groups.

Nice to see UA addressing a few big complaints with the revamped meal policy:

                  - Lunchtime midcon meal gap
                  - Loss of meal service on transcon redeyes
                  - Longhaul redeye Hawaii service
                  - Lack of menu variety in the p.s. service

p.s. typically uses entrees from the international cycle, so I wonder if some of these new options will spill over to longhaul for the time being until United 'relaunches' its BF service?

Hope to see some changes in INTL BF as well.

Speak for yourself. I think the short rib is the only beef cut that withstands the catering process. Maybe a change of sauce once in a while wouldn't hurt.

Glad to the cioppino - CO had a decent version in BF prior to the merger. Just gonna have to wait and see how this one tastes.

Flying in F EWR-SFO on 10/24. Missed it by *this* much!

Guess I'll catch it on the return later in the week though ...

And super excited about the HNL-EWR upgrade. Doing that as a redeye so I'm glad there'll be a real meal now.

Yeah, variety is not UA's strong suit but as boring as they are, at least the meals are edible, unlike some of the garbage that USdbaAA now serves.

None of the new items sound all that appetizing to me, but I agree these are long overdue for some updates.

Agree that Intl BF and GF are also long overdue...hopefully the EWR and ORD/HNL events are a sign that those are being changed up as well.

Unless I missed it, no mention of any updates to breakfast items at all...?

To UA's credit, domestic breakfasts have already been updated and I think they are pretty darn good (not that I minded the old slop that we still see on int'l flights).
