Boy, wouldn't that be great! I'm headed there in Feb on a licensed trip, and the Charter operators are horrible.

I will wait till the casinos open. :-)

There's already hundreds of seats a day in the market, including American and JetBlue: http://flightaware.com/live/findflight/ZMA/MUHA/

What's the odds the airlines have Saver Award fares to Cuba once it opens? None?

Yes, as charters. As is AA, or was, most likely still does.

I flew AA charter in January from MIA. In December 2011 flew JFK-HAV, but I think that was Delta.

AA charters from TPA.

Well, it would give United yet another chance to emulate Aeroflot...

The fact is that US citizens can visit and have been able to visit Cuba for a long time, now.

Only with a permit, and with lots of restrictions.

If all you want is the cigars, just come up to Canada and buy them here!

I have been on many flight to Cuba with Americans who were travelling there without permits and/or restrictions. Last trip was a few (2 or 3) years ago but 3 people on the plane were Americans, travelling on US passports and did not have a special permit.

Given UA has PA's original route authority to Cuba and used to run regular off-schedule 747 charters MIA-HAV during the Miami hub, how soon till we get some scheduled UA flights there?

Or is this something they cede / sell to AA or DL which seem to have better geo hubs to get to Cuba?

Anyone know if AA has a MIA-HAV authority from Braniff / Eastern given that's the basis of AA's LatAm network? They probably seem the more logical to reactivate unless UA had the only route authority.

No, Americans cannot travel to Cuba for tourist purposes. One needs (and will need) a license to travel to Cuba for specific non-tourist purposes. That travel can be accomplished either by flying through a third country (e.g. Mexico, Jamaica, Canada, Grand Cayman, Bahamas) or by taking any of the numerous flights operated as Special Authorization Charters available from the United States each day aboard AA, B6, DL, & UA aircraft. There are 5-10 737s per day, every day.

UA will not be able to offer scheduled passenger service until, and unless, Congress repeals the embargo.

I recommend Mojitos on the lawn at the Nacional looking out to sea.

Preferably with an H. Upmann Magnum 50 in your hand.

Three VIP lounges are located in HAV's Terminal 3.

But it begs the question: why would one use a VIP lounge in Cuba? Isn't a main purpose of traveling to Cuba to enjoy a (theoretically) classless society?

Vising a VIP lounger, going to a resort, or hanging out with Raul Castro just seems antithetical to what one would (should) enjoy.

Suspect sun, beaches and cheap accommodations rank higher for most visitors (and 1957 Chevys). :D
