This legacy Chase credit card is not taking new applications. Compiled below is a comparison of current card-derived vs. status-derived benefits.

Overall, the current benefits of the PP and the replacement Club card are nearly identical. The key trade-off is increased redeemable mile (RDM) earnings with the Club card vs. FPQM with the PP card. Basically, the Club card earns an incremental 0.5 RDM / $1 vs. the PP cards 0.2 PQM / $1. This sets a 2.5 RDM : $1 PQM ratio, which puts a price on PQMs earned this way at $0.025 to $0.050. Given that PQMs cost atleast $0.08 or more each if purchased early in the year via award accelerator, this is a pretty good deal for those who anticipate falling short of the upcoming years desired Silver / Gold / Platinum threshold.

Benefits unique to the PP card:
- 1000 FPQM per $5,000 spend (or 0.2 / $1)
- FPQMs are only valid for Premier Silver / Gold / Platinum status, expire 3 years after earning
- 1 RDM / $1 card spend (x2 hotel & rental cars for personal card, x2 restaurants, gas, office supplies for business card)
- Premier Qualifying Dollar (PQD) waiver (no minimum card spend, doesnt apply to 1K)

Benefits unique to the Club card:
- 1.5 RDM / $1 card spend
- PQD waiver (with $25,000 minimum card spend, doesnt apply to 1K)

Benefits shared between PP and Club cards:
- $395 annual fee
- United club membership (vs. $450 1K/GS, $500 Platinum, $550 Gold, $550 Silver, $550 GM, +$550 with spouse)
- Waiver of 4 segment on United flights for Premier qualification (removed in 2020)
- Premier Access (group 2 boarding)
- 2 free checked bags (vs. 1 Silver, 2 Gold, 3 Platinum)
- Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum
- Hertz Hertz President's Circle status (vs. Five Star for Premier Silver / Gold) (expiring 31 January 2023)
- CPU on award tickets
- No <21 day award booking fees (vs. $50 Silver, $25 Gold, $0 Platinum)
- No foreign transaction fees
- Concierge service

Benefits compared to Explorer card:
- only $95 annual fee
- only 1 free bag for cardholder and 1 companion
- 1 RDM / $1 card spend, +10,000 bonus after $25,000 card spend)
- 2 single-use club passes
- Premier Access (group 2 boarding)
- Premier Qualifying Dollar waiver (with $25,000 minimum card spend)

I've been piling up FEQM for years now. But as a 1K who regularly requalifies the old fashioned way, are the FEQM of any utility?

Nope. They are useless if you make PLT or higher on PQM.

Value of Flex PQM

It strikes me the "no change to premier qualifying" is likely a transitional arrangement. Why continue tracking BIS miles only for status qualification? Will 2016 bring revenue-only PQM?

With reduced award incentive any 2015 mileage runs, it seems the Flex PQM miles from the PP card could now be more valuable for a mid-tier flyer who prefers not purchasing those last few miles for the Gold or Platinum. My annual renewal is coming up shortly and my first thought is to keep the PP for another year and see how it is impacted by whatever change comes next.

.....
as has been extensive discussed in PQD threads
UA wants both the high revenue and high frequency requirements.

United need not be "fair." Perhaps it likes making elites jump through two hoops (both miles and money).

The Pres Plus Card is no longer available for new accounts. UC Card is the replacement.

To be fair, Chase still lists the card on their website, and there are plenty of references throughout UA's website as well. Someone was just trying to be helpful, not timely, but none-the-less helpful.

Avis president

I have the chase PP credit card for about 5 years and I just check my status with Avis and I realized I was downgraded to Avis First from Avis President, I thought it was for those who only have the mileage Club Card who lost the president status but not for Presidental plus cards,
Also who can I call to get he status back

Thanks

Solma

Avis Pres Club is higher than First - more upgrades, etc.

I earn First yearly with my rentals; they added on Pres Club when I got the PPlus card.

I have Avis Presidents Club via the PP card and Avis First via Founders Card. IMHO the Presidents Club is far more valuable: the big Avis First benefit is frequent free weekend rentals which never seem to work out.

With Presidents Club I've had amazing luck reserving intermediate cars and driving something far nicer. E.G. over Christmas visiting my inlaws in Wisconsin I had an upgrade from an intermediate to a Ford Flex SUV which literally saved the holiday when a big snow storm hit.

Still: At the moment I'm avoiding Avis because of a $100+ of bogus charges (which Avis can't explain) relating to an Israeli rental.

I've got the PP card, and Avis still lists me as Presidents Club.

Oops I mixed up President with Preferred, I'd better look into that as well!

ADDENDUM: Go here: http://www.avis.com/car-rental/html/...esidentialplus
You can call & get re-upped to President's Club
