PCU (Premium Cabin Upsell) Nets extra PQM's and can be done at purchase or anytime before checkin if prompted. This will book into a business/first bucket.
UFC (Upgrade For Cash) is done at checkin (online, counter, lounge, gate) and will not earn extra PQM's.

My wife, who is Premier Gold, cleared EWR-PBI in the middle of the week T-48.
Ours was on PS Flight from JFK-SFO. NOT COOL

Jfk-sfo 5/25/15

K fare offered $349 at T-24 (OLCI) for JFK-SFO on 5/25/15 (Memorial Day) -- UA 766

Took the offer. J = 6 at the time. In the end only 2 people cleared the list.

I am flying EWR-PWM in a couple months. Originally booked on ERJ145, got changed to a Q400. A couple-part question:

-Offer to upgrade online = $269/seat. I see price difference between U and A = $49 when I price the one-way itinerary. Can I call in and have them change the fare for just the fare differential?

-2nd question: is it even worth it? Never flown upfront in this plane, so no idea if I should just wait out for a CPU (which, given how cheap it is to buy F directly, isn't a given I would think) or not.

Yes, provided A is available. Upfares to a different CoS generally don't incur a change fee, though I don't know if that's a published rule.

I would value the seat at $10 o/w, max.

Same offer on UA 804 on the return at check-in. Same outcome (declined).

I'm curious how they priced that one, as based on the PQDs credited, the return (same as the outbound, in W) was ~$300 cheaper than the outbound; the upgrade offer was identical for both, though.

Last Minute Buy-Up to First?

Does United have any low cost last minute buy-ups to first?

I'm flying to Hawaii in September and although I normally fly Delta got a phenomenal price on United. If I was flying delta I could buy up to first once the check-in windows opens for a very low price. Is there anything like that on United?

Right now my upgrade on United would cost $1478/pax which is a little expensive.
