Summer 2015 flight changes - CTU daily, WBs for TXL/LIS/BCN

some international changes announced internally today. (along with PVG already announced)

SFO-CTU will move to daily during the summer months.
EWR-TXL/LIS/BCN upgagued to widebody a/c (most likely 763)

certainly been a long time coming for LIS/BCN/TXL to have a scheduled widebody.

Hey some nice positive news! ^

Assuming they're not pulling the 763s off of other routes, but instead just keeping them around longer vs. retiring them as the 789s come in?

With an increase in ASM to BCN hopefully they will have some low fares. One can hope.

EWR764 Dec 15, 2014 2:57 pm

BCN goes to 764, TXL a 3-cabin 763, and LIS a 2-cabin 763.

Also see the all-widebody EWR-LHR schedule from last summer, but with the notable addition of a 787 flight on the late departure, which would be EWR's first regular international 787 service. The other flights are 3-cabin 763ERs at 9:05am, 6:25pm and 9:05pm; plus the usual 777 at 7:30pm.

IAH-LHR gets 2x 787 as well.

Where does the 787 come from? I'm guessing a rotation with IAH?

LAX won't have any 788s anymore. LAX-NRT/PVG/MEL will all be on 789, while LHR/SYD remain on 3-class 77E.

Still think UA is about to shut LAX down ?

Interesting that EWR-LHR gets 2-class 788 but EWR-TXL gets a 3-class 763 ... is F demand to Berlin really there instead of London ?

Think it's an aircraft availability issue. There are plenty of 767s to go around in EWR, but since it is not yet a 787 pilot domicile, the airplanes and flight crews are probably coming on a six-day rotation from IAH, e.g. day 1 IAH-LHR, day 2 layover, day 3 LHR-EWR, layover, day 4 EWR-LHR, day 5 layover, day 6 LHR-IAH.

The three-cabin F birds are primarily there to drive full-fare J traffic, which GS/1K can upgrade with a SWU, and because those airplanes are in a rather premium-heavy configuration. So, TXL makes more sense because it is more business-oriented. OTOH, in a market like LIS, the higher density of the 2-cabin 763ER is necessary.

I think it's a utilization issue and puts more premium seats on the LHR flight.

UA has no developed F market NYC-LON, anyone regularly doing it has been doing it on AA/BA for years/decades.

Wrong thread but yes. Just because LAX-NRT was upgraded doesn't really say much.

Nice to see the 787's in EWR. I think ORD is the only one left.

DISREGARD - I misread the routing

JOSECONLSCREW28 Dec 15, 2014 4:56 pm

Better start working LIS & TXL trips while I can before they go over to sUA flying.

No doubt only for the Memorial Day-Labor Day stretch, then back to 757 (and possibly less-than-daily service).

More then likely but I haven't worked any LIS & TXL trips for a while so want to work some before the summer months.

Both NRT and PVG, not just NRT.

Regarding 787s, I don't recall any long-haul 787 services out of IAD (someone correct me here)
