Ethiopian Airlines (ET) award questions / experiences

Can anyone tell me if they have had trouble booking Ethiopian seats in conjunction with a United ticket? I have been trying to book a return from BKK/ADD/Cle and when I click select it always says “error”.. United says it is a glitch with Ethiopian but when I ask why does it show award seats on United site they cant answer other than to say they are working on it.. It has been at least 3 weeks since the problem started. Any ideas would be appreciated leaving on Dec 27

Is there a reason you have to choose Ethiopian? I assume it's important to stop at ADD? I see what, to me, looks like a much-nicer option available through TPA & LAX on Thai & EVA. Business class available as well.

Having recently done the ADD-IAD ET thing (which presumably would be part of your ADD/CLE segment), I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Does ET ever open up BC seats? I'm going ORD-SEZ over spring break and cn get coach or BC from VIE to ORD but never seems to open up of ET.

Also, is there any way to get to SEZ other through ADD when using UA miles?

To my enjoyment, saver F just opened up for me from DUB > LAX on the 787-8. Need to keep my eyes on this route for the holidays. No issues for me either.

You realize that united.com does not show ET J seats, right?
Its not an availability issue, its a display issue.

You need to verify availability on aeroplan or ANA and call in to book.

And no, there isnt a different way

ET currently has fantastic availability up front, but none of it shows up on United.com's award search, nor do agents see it until you ask for a specific flight. Working with a good agent last night, we found nearly 100% availability later this year on BOM-ADD-IAD.

Just ran in to that problem today. Annoying that it displays Y fine but not J. Good to know I can call in for it, though. Any success getting the phone booking fee waived because of this?

Because its non-stop? Because it beats flying a short hop in euro-coachbiz and then UA over the pond, or worse UA TATL 757 followed by a domestic.

But it's not even lie-flat, much less aisle access. It has to be the worst premium product on a long haul 787.

its flat enough. sure its not a bed - but its non-stop.
pick your poison. A 6 hour domestic F on EWR-LAX would be far more tortorous.

DUB-LHR is all of 45 minutes, then you have the choice of ANZ or UAL to LAX.

Never suggested a 6h domestic leg.
