  • Gold: $6,000
  • Platinum: $9,000
  • 1K: $12,000
This change affects 2016 Premier status qualification which is based on 2015 flight activity. You can find more information about the updated requirements and PQD waivers by visiting this link.

From UA:

Subject: Updated MileagePlus Premier requirements for 2016 status

"Our best customers come first"

"Customers who do more business with us should enjoy our best benefits.

Last year, we introduced Premier® qualifying dollars (PQD) so customers who spend more with us can enjoy more access to benefits like Premier upgrades, Economy Plus® seating and Premier Access®. On January 1, 2015, we will adjust our PQD requirement for 2016 Premier status."

Then the new chart with $3K, $6K, $9K, $12K

"The PQD requirement only applies to members who live in the U.S. and can be waived for members who hold a United® MileagePlus® Presidential PlusSM Card, or members who spend $25,000 or more in Net Purchases in 2015 on MileagePlus co-branded credit cards issued by Chase Bank, N.A.. The PQD waiver does not apply for Premier 1K® status."

From inquiry on why
.... over the years members have told us that they want to be recognized for how much they pay to fly those miles. This change also reflects a trend that has been emerging in loyalty programs across many industries and among our competitors. ...

2015 MileagePlus Change-PQD increased to $3k / $6k / $9k / $12k

Apologies if this was already posted, but I just came across this change on the website:
http://www.united.com/web/en-US/cont...r/qualify.aspx

Note that the CC waiver up to PP does appear to stay for 2015, at $25K spend, as indicated in the "waivers and exemptions" at the bottom of the page.

Also APO/FPO/DPO (all levels) and Presidential Plus (up to PP) waivers still apply.

Foreign residents still exempt according to the parentheses in the chart headers.

Funny thing is I navigated to the page from the 2015 RDM changes site, using the link "Please note that this won't change how you qualify for Mileage Plus Premier status". But they changed it another way.

The copy and paste from DL continues!

Shameless. They pay millions to consultants and apparently the advice is "copy Delta in every possible way except for service and operational reliability."

Angry Cant you just say what you mean?

This is just frustrating. First United says $10K is the sweet spot if our a 1K ($10k x 11 = 110,00 miles). Now it's oh wait we need another $2K spend on top of that $10k after you already have your 100,000 miles just because......well just because.

While my response will not be the norm on this board, I am absolutely fine with this change. Maybe it will reduce the volume of 1k's to a point that being 1k may mean something.

yep.

i'm glad i saw the writing on the wall a long time ago.

i can't wait until the other shoe falls (next economic downturn) and the airlines have to come back begging with their mea culpa.

At least they kept the earning for RDM's at 100% and 1 PQS for the lower coach fares (for now )

They very cleverly snuck it in on the Premier Qualifying page without a corresponding announcement. I guess now they will start "sending" announcements!

If the average fare goes up 20% in 2015, these rates would retain parity with the current scheme.

+1 Embarrassing how UA has settled for the role of Follow the Leader.
