I read somewhere recently that the NYC-TLV market was one of the most underserved international markets in the country because about 250k passengers book a one-stop option. UA may very well be trying to make EWR-TLV more O&D and shift the connecting traffic to IAD. I could easily see this route going daily within a year or see ORD-TLV being added on alternate days, giving UA 4x flights everyday.

Flying United direct from EWR to TLV. Looks like UA84 (departing 445pm EST) has 2-2-2 (old Polaris) while UA85 (departing 1015pm EST) has 1-2-1 (new Polaris) configuration. Is this because UA85 is 777-300ER whereas UA84 is 777-200? I assume it's possible my information is wrong, but thanks for any input in advance.

Yes, that's exactly right. And on the return, UA85 is old Continental 2-2-2 seating on the 777-200, and UA91 is new Polaris 1-2-1 on the 77W. UA84 turns around as UA85, UA 90 turns around as UA91.

ZS - Thank you, much appreciated for the information. Just wish UA85 outbound from EWR had better flight times ... getting into Israel in late afternoon is

I'm actually partial to UA90 outbound to TLV, UA85 back to EWR. UA84 departs too early for me to sleep well (not able to get to sleep until at least 5 hours into the 10 hour flight, so I end up with 3 or 4 hours of sleep) before getting into TLV around 11am and still having a lot of the day ahead of me. UA90 lets me get on the plane, have some food, get 6 or so hours of sleep, which is just enough to be running around for another 6-7 hours or so before falling asleep at midnight or 1am local time.

Then UA85 as a day flight getting into EWR around 5pm, so a nap on the plane and then try to stay up as long as you can before passing out. Which in my book beats getting into EWR at 6am with an entire day ahead of you, no matter how much you slept on the 12 hour flight home.

But to each their own

Good points. Perhaps I solve this problem by leaving a day earlier and take UA90 and get my sight seeing in the next day instead of cramming arrival and exploration into one long day. Either way, I can never sleep on a plane.

How many flights a day are there between EWR and TLV. Surprised there are more than one.

UA has 2 daily EWR-TLV: UA84 and UA90. Not sure why surprised considering LY has 3x JFK-TLV and 2x EWR-TLV.

I wish the SFO flight arrived in the late afternoon. I hate getting in at 9:30pm.

Just to clarify the flights:

UA84 EWR-TLV 16:45-10:15(+1)
UA90 EWR-TLV 22:50-16:20(+1)

UA85 TLV-EWR 12:15-17:15
UA91 TLV-EWR 23:10-04:10(+1)

U85, which you mention, departs TLV, not EWR.

4, 2x on UA and 2x on LY (though technically LY isn't daily since they don't fly on Shabbat).
Considering this is on top of 3x daily on LY from JFK and 1x daily on DL from JFK, not sure why this is surprising. Never been on DL's JFK-TLV, but have been on both LY flights, both UA flights, and all LY JFK flights (sometimes as much as 5x daily) and they are generally full.

Extra EWR-TLV frequency? (schedule mods for Yom Kippur)

EWR TLV 10 5:05 22:35 777 (3 - Wednesday)

Saw this on the united cargo September widebody schedule but no corresponding TLV-EWR. Notable because it appears to be a daytime TATL.

EWR-TLV doesn't operate on 2018/9/18 it looks like because it would arrive in the middle of Yom Kippur, so the frequency is pushed to daytime 2018/9/19 arriving after sundown.

Not holidays (plural) - specifically Yom Kippur, as the airport is closed for those 25 hours.

Equipment Change EWR/TLV - 77W

A FA on a recent flight said that they were told that the 84/85 flights were going to be changed to a 77W. Has anyone heard anything about this?
