In *A, mileage earning is based on the rules for the operating carrier
There are three key pieces of info needed
1. The operating carrier of the flight segment (how marketed / codeshare do not matter)
2. The fare class of the operating carrier. This can be a problem if purchased as codeshare because the codeshare's fare class is not relevant.
3. Program you are crediting

If crediting to United MileagePlus, see the partner earning tables to determine earnings (both RDMs and PQMs)

Read the interline booking rules in the fare. Your TA can provide them to you, or use a tool like ExpertFlyer.

The interline booking booking codes that are filed in the fares are only applicable if you book directly into the flight number for that carrier. While they should bear a strong resemblance to what would happen if you book the codeshare, it is no guarantee that it will do so. I don't know of any specific cases where they're different now, but it's frequently been the case in the past that W booked on a United codeshare is actually V on Lufthansa, but if you booked the Lufthansa flight number directly the fare filed required W. While this example actually works in the passenger's favor, others may not.

There isn't really any way to know for sure how they map except for booking the flight and then asking the operating carrier what booking code they see for your reservation in their systems (or if you can, pulling it up on their website).

I guess I mean codeshare rather than interline. Here's an example of the info I'm talking about from EF, where it's a UA fare, but you can see what it books into on NH:

Maybe I'm missing something here, but you say you want to use UA to book a UA-codeshare flight operated by NH, but to credit the miles to your OZ account. If this is the case, I don't think UA crediting agreements with NH have anything to do with the miles you will accumulate on OZ. Indeed, the only crediting rules that will apply are OZ's -- and while they might credit a NH flight number, it would be unusual if they allowed you to credit a UA-codeshare number. But the final arbiter is OZ's rules, not UA's.

I do this often for Air Canada due to the "Tango" fares.
I think most NH and UA classes map to the same. But note what you suggest above doesnt work, necessarily. The fare classes you see online are going to be based on the marketing carrier, so if its booked as a codeshare, will only show the codeshare class, even if you look at it on the operators website. Calling the operating carrier is the only real way, aside from digging into the mapping on the fare rules.

Also, specific to AC, the Tango fare mapping doesnt really work anymore, as AC has mucked up its fare classes where the classes arent dedicated to a fare family anymore - it used to be that way. Specific S fares, for example, could be a Tango fare while a different S fare on the same flight could be a Flex fare.

In Star Alliance, only the operating carrier matters. An NH flight with a UA flight number should absolutely be eligible for OZ credit; however, it will be credited according to the fare class reported by NH, which is why OP wanted to know how they'd map.

So, the information that you've listed here is exactly what I used in order to give my reply. However, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Sykes is right. This information is what you use to find inventory requirements for an NH-coded segment on a UA fare component. It is not necessarily the same as the RBD that will be used internally by NH for a codeshare flight on the same UA fare.

Keep in mind that these systems predate frequent flyer programs by years. Other than estimating frequent flyer credit, I can't think of any reason that a traveler would need that bit of information (NH's internal RBD). It doesn't seem like anything that most GDS customers would have needed to know at the time that the systems were designed. and while it could certainly be backfilled into these tables, I don't think it actually has been.

OP: Due to the UA/NH joint venture, I'm confident that this mapping is going to turn out to be exactly what I said -- W to W, K to K, S to S. However, I agree with the other advice you've gotten -- pull the reservation up on NH's site, or call them, if you want absolute certainty. If you've bought the ticket through United directly, you have 24 hours from purchase to cancel for a full refund if you don't like what you're told.

Correct. The mapping of codeshare booking class to the booking class used by the operating carrier isn't published externally anywhere (as far as I know). The information that mduell pasted is published so that travel agents know what booking class to use if they book the flight directly on the operating carrier's flight number, but that isn't the same table that the carriers use for their codeshare mappings.

In general, that table should be pretty closely aligned with the codeshare mappings, especially with UA's Joint Venture partners like NH and the LH Group since they harmonized booking classes, but I've personally observed situations where it is not the case, and it's more common with non-JV Star Alliance carriers ... which is unfortunately where it tends to matter the most since the booking classes aren't aligned and the mapping is less obvious.

3. If that were a fare, it would be an E, not a Y.

What is your actual routing?

Took a guess based on OP's program listing of LO SEN that the route is WAWLAS. There is effectively a OS ELRCEU3W fare filed for that route.

Looks like it books into M on UA.

nope. TICKETS MUST BE ISSUED ON THE STOCK OF OS.

There is a corresponding E fare on AC ... that you should be able to get 016 stock ... but unlikely the routing you would like.
