General consensus: In United Polaris business Cabin, 1D and 6D/E are the best seats on this plane due to the giant footrest area and direct aisle access without anyone having to step over you to get to the aisle. 1E is very close to the forward lav, however.
For further details, see poster #1 and also 787-8 thread. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/1394369-everything-you-want-know-about-where-sit-united-dreamliner-787-8-a.html

Fun stuff! My travel dates have changed ... so back to choosing seats again.

Any thoughts on 4E vs 7DEK for SFO-SIN and 5A vs 7A for the return (I suppose the tradeoff here is the view from the window being partially obstructed by the wing vs being next to the restroom)

Thanks.

Would just do one of the D or E seats for the freedom

I have 4E SFO-SIN (it's dark for most of the flight anyways), opted for 7A on the return (wasn't sure if the proximity to the restrooms would be an issue for 5A).

Row 5 is a good distance from the BusinessFirst lavatory. The galley is between the lav and row 5, so you're more likely to be bothered by noise/light from galley than lav.

Huh? On both sides, the lav is forward of door 2 and immediately behind row 5. I flew in 5A once and did not find it to be too disruptive; however if you pay attention you can tell there is a lav behind you.

1B, 1L, 6A, or 6L? 1A and 6DE are already taken. I am 6’1 tall if it matters.

1L if you want the window and 1B if you want the aisle. Possibly 6A/L if you are extremely conscious of hearing toilets flush.

i would take 6A or 6L because there is more separation from galley and lavs in row 6 than in row 1. Then I would pick the side of the aircraft based on where the sun will be . . . A for eastbound, L for westbound.
kittiyut likes this.

Is your choice to be with the sun or to avoid the sun?

On the 787s, to avoid the sun. It also tends to be the better view to the north.

1B is going to have galley light shining on it the entire time (no curtains on the 787 unfortunately - shame on United)

6A and 6L are really nice if you like the window and 1L I read you will feel/if not hear the toilet flush.

The front cabin is quieter of course, but the white noise of the engines is nice to sleep to as well.

Is there any significant difference between 6D and 6E?
