UA Global First ranked 5* for food! (site error-- actual 2*)

Whilst I know all these surveys are silly, I came across this

https://flightfox.com/tradecraft/bes...st-first-class

which ranks UA F 24th and last on their list - not too surprising - but gives it 5* for food and wine which is staggering.

*****
Title updated -- site had an error and it has been corrected to a 2* Food & Wine rating for UA GF

Trust me when I tell you - the authors of this "survery/article" have never set foot in an international F cabin

or eaten UA's F cabin food (let alone C). Even if international F, the food has been 3 star at best.

what's the difference? UA's "C" food is mediocre for C.

Even LH, whose F experience is extraordinary, tends to have very ... odd and not necessarily 'good' entrees ex-Germany, perhaps I just don't like German food (though, LH F ex-TLV was the best airplane meal I've ever had, hands down, and ex-YYZ the mains are also great).

Maybe they're polling starving refugees or something...

UA's F food=C food. Same entrees, only difference is a soup course and hot appetizers. They can market it as "more personalized service, a private bed/seating area, whatever" but the reality is it essentially is other than the "big front seat" its BusinessFirst. It's cheaper for them to maintain it this way until they eventually kill it off.

If we compare to other airlines around the world 3 star might be over kill

What's the difference? Not much. A bowl of soup and another entree choice. But I think we all knew that.

Bottom line is you don't have to fly in UA's F to have the "experience." THAT was my point.

Agree with you on the LH F point for sure. Not a fan of the meals I've been served (except one halibut which was actually quite good).

I'm sure we could find some surveys where McDonald's is first as well...

If (and this is a big if) you get one of the few remaining great crews, the experience can be amazing. But this is increasingly rare.

Shows you the value of surveys.
I do not remember the food last Thursday NRT-SFO but know I did not finish any meal. I am usually satisfied with "OK" which I would rate as 3 out of 5. It must have been worse.
I was pleased with KLM and AF biz food. But seeing United as last and SQ at the top of the list is not surprising.

Once again, this was not a SURVEY.

Nobody was polled, the author(s) have never flown any F. Its more of a research paper.

As my adorable 5-year old nephew would say: "It's, it's... yuckyyyyy."
