Most ill-advised connection?

There are often mentions tucked into various threads of legal but ill-advised connections. They often give me a giggle. Booking my son from PGA to SFO I recently stumbled on this gem:

Depart: 2:09 p.m. Page, AZ (PGA) Flight: UA3035
Arrive: 4:54 p.m. Denver, CO (DEN)
Operated by Great Lakes Airlines.
Aircraft: Beechcraft 1900D

Change Planes. Connect time in Denver, CO (DEN) is 33 minutes.

Depart:5:27 p.m. Denver, CO (DEN) Flight: UA733
Arrive: 7:07 p.m. San Francisco, CA (SFO)

Doesn't look impossible until you realize that you have to change terminals, and deal with this:

UA3035 PGA - DEN May. 2014
On time: 32% Late: 52% Canceled: 10%
Average delay: 55 minutes

Of course it was listed first, too!

Can anyone think of a connection more likely to go wrong?

Between this and the highest CPM thread, it's like people are looking to find the most miserable travel experience ever. :)

I opted for a longer connection (duh!) and ultimately got helped out by the unreliability of the Great Lakes flight. After spending $275 on a one way ticket, my son decided he wanted to delay his return and drive to Southern California with friends. I went ahead and booked a later return out of ONT, but waited to cancel his original flight in hopes of a cancellation or trip destroying delay. Happily (for me, not those who needed to fly) the flight canceled the night before departure and I got a full refund.

Anything under two hours in FRA.

I would generally disagree with this -- I had a 2ish hour connection at FRA today. So far, I've taken a shower and had about 1 hour of work time in the lounge. Maybe I just got lucky, but I think that arriving later in the day (e.g. from the west coast) is easier for such connections than arriving with the big wave of east coast/midwest flights in the AM.

I'm still not brave enough to try connecting in LOS...

You can actually travel from DEN to LAX on Great Lakes, but you have to overnight along the way :)

Any connection on Great Lakes is cause for concern. Not only do they have maintenance issues, they are almost always weight restricted. You get bumped based on your check in time...regardless of who you are. Now with the pilot shortage, they have real issues just maintaining their schedule.

And you are right, they are at the far end of A Con in DEN, if you happen to be connecting to the commuter gates in the B Con, it's a 30 minute walk/train ride.

My sister in law booked a flight for her and her family with a 41 minute connection at ORD... in February.

Not sure how they made it.

Nothing quite as exciting as alien abduction. The United website explains:

On time: Percentage of arrivals within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival time

Late: Percentage of arrivals more than 30 minutes late
Translation:

Flight arrived within 15 minutes of schedule 32% of the time.

Flight arrived between 15 and 30 minutes late 6% of the time.

Flight arrived over 30 minutes late 52% of the time.

Flight canceled 10% of the time.

Exactly, frequently ill-advised.

How was the shower?
